glass for grinding chisels and stuff

Bargain corner at Ikea. There's usually a glass offee table top or shelf for two quid. Plenty of good stuff to be had there...and you can haggle now! I picked up some soft closing fully opening kitchen drawer runners for two quid recently. :D

    DIY Spray booth requirements?

Some commercial spray booths (car bumper painting industry) cover the walls of their spray booths with Vaseline. This catches overspray and stops it flaking off. It needs replacing every so often...you need to gloop it on though, not smear.

Wow. I can think of lots of things to use this for....

I used to formulate paint with similar additives for the automotive industry. It will contain fluoropolymers (like you get in Teflon cookware). Great demos though, just wonder how resistant to abrasion it is though. My son could do with that trick on his iPhone.

    A Good, Cheap Vise?

Someone on here gave me the tip to clamp a piece of wood in the vice the same height as your bench. You can then use the piece of wood to prop the vice at the right height under your bench while you mark the positions of the holes. A great tip that saved my back.

    Electrolysis

The current doesn't need to be very high as long as you keep the anode close to the cathode. If it doesn't do the whole thing in one go, just do half...the move the anode and do the other half. It's honestly not difficult. You can go from having nothing to having a go in half an hour. I did...

    Electrolysis

For small items I used an old phone charger. Cut the plug off (that goes into the phone) and connect the exposed wires to crocodile clips. I bet you have an old phone charger at the back of a drawer somewhere...you could get it now and have a go...go on...go on!! :D For a bath I used a milk...

    Holiday in Norfolk

Wells-next-the-sea is my favourite seaside town in England...old fashioned harbour, then take the railway to the beach and Wells Wood. Lovely Scot's Pine wood leading into dunes, then out to a HUGE beach where the tide goes out for miles. You can rent a beach hut. There's the North Norfolk...

    Making Sash Window Frame

Just to put this into perspective... My first proper woodworking project was building a guitar including making the fretboard from scratch. I would imagine that was a far simpler project than making sash windows. Plus, if things didn't work out I could hide it behind the settee...you will have...

Best material for filling a guitar

If it's a big hole that you need to fill...e.g. A pickup cavity, swimming pool route or a floyd rose, then it would be better to fill as much of the hole with wood (whatever the body is made from, mahogany / basswood etc.) and fill in the small gaps with filler. This epic thread from HCEG shows...

You guys don't seem that excited...

Never really watched it before, but the men's badminton final was incredible. Those guys were bouncing round the court like rubber balls. Amazing!
