It strikes me that forming the letters from 20A copper wire would be easier and then tack welding it to a steel plate? No experience of this and it would be a rough and ready result at best, just trying to think through the problem. Maybe you can get steel wire of a similar gauge somewhere?

The left one looks like sapele to me. Could the right one be poplar/tulip?

Just wanted to report back on the acoustic properties of the shelves. I installed the shelves on the blank wall opposite my stereo and it has had a marked effect on the acoustics. The room was quite lively (not helped by having guitars hanging on the wall), but the shelves have really cut down...

The stick blenders are high shear and as such wont be suitable for waterborne paints. The shear can flocculate the emulsion resin and turn it into cottage cheese. It’s not a problem for solventborne paint, but it’s a bit over the top. In the paint industry we use shakers like they have in the...

I’m not an expert, but I don’t believe arsenic is used in tanalising any more. Seems they are using copper triazole which explains the green staining around knot holes.
