    Aldi wine

Aldi do a lager called Galahad,£2.15 for a 4 pack its over 4% and its not bad at all they do a nice baileys knock off called ballycastle and I swear its better than the real one. I got a proper one this Xmas and it didn't match ballycastle. Now either its better or I drink far too much and my...

    Aldi

Bought 4 of them as they looked good value but I'm afraid one of the handles snapped on me whilst trying to hold a piece in place. As logger once said to me cheap tools are a false economy. They may look good for a YouTube shop tour but not very fit for very much at all I'm afraid

    Precise and Imprecise Tools?

I have to agree Mike as the tool will perform precisely as it was made the hand factor makes it imprecise

    Precise and Imprecise Tools?

Sorry to bring up an old thread that I came across doing a search for something else. My understanding of a precision tool would be a tool that measures therefore can be checked for accuracy. In terms of hand tools the precision is in the user, a 1000£ saw v 10£ saw can both cut a straight line...

I know this thread is 6yr old now but I still found it invaluable and an amazing effort and professionalism from all concerned. Cannot thank you enough =D> I have quite a few old saws I believe that need restoration and sharpening. There are definitely Nicholson and a few of them. A bunch of...

My first ever project! Bench Build

Cheers guys, Mike/trevanian, I'm reusing the wood for 2 reasons the first is not to waste it and if it goes wrong it hasn't cost me anything. I will learn along the way. I'm doing a bench first as you can see I'm planing off a makeshift table using screws to hold the wood in place. I'm...

My first ever project! Bench Build

Hi all, I have spent lot of time watching and studying woodworking and now I have started my first ever project/build a much needed bench. I have only a small brick built 8x4 shed so as you will see from my first pictures I am short of space. I am trying to get my bench built as my next...

    Easiest Blade and Chisel Sharpening

I'm new to the forum and haven't been bored to tears yet, I have watched and read countless things about sharpening including toms videos this morning. I get your passion for the subject tom but in trying to help others there are ways and means of going about it and criticising others and being...

    Easiest Blade and Chisel Sharpening

You don't have to be jurgen klopp to teach novices the offside rule. If to be a teacher you have to be the best then there would be no teachers especially if they get slaughtered for doing so. God help the human race then. Its Xmas time for merriment and good will no need to pull anyone down...

    Easiest Blade and Chisel Sharpening

Fellas I have no qualms in you disagreeing with him nor do I believe he is the messiah my issue is him being called a fool as if he talks rubbish. I will look at the advice offered many thanks. Anything that will help me improve my skills I'm definitely interested in. My last word on Sellers is...

    Easiest Blade and Chisel Sharpening

I accept your not taking potshots I respect you for saying so. I have studied woodworking at length unable to get out of bed for years and Paul's methods are the very best out there IMO I would be happy to view any you may think that are superior please post me a link. If its a case of I say so...

    Easiest Blade and Chisel Sharpening

Sellers specifically tells people that they need to do the full progression, every time. This does have some specific disadvantages; it needlessly wastes steel for one, and it increases the risk of a less-experienced user altering the edge profile unintentionally. But on the other hand it does...

    Easiest Blade and Chisel Sharpening

I think the difference between you and Paul Sellers is by your own admission is you're a fanatical sharpener where he is a fanatical craftsman/woodworker. His work is out there for all to see. Paul is teaching inexperienced woodworker's the basics but even so he still is able to give out correct...
