Helix cutter heads for thickness planers

woodsworth. It would need a full drawing if it has integral shaft as the bearings on the machine need to be located precisely to match the location on the head. If the head comes off the shaft its very easy as you would need a plain bore with perhaps location points to attach to the shaft. where...

Helix cutter heads for thickness planers

The statements on the Byrd site about finish are true but..... you have to make certain the seatings are very clean when replacing the knives otherwise they may leave shadow lines on the timber which will require sanding. Their knives seem expensive too. They usually use 14x14x2 or 15x15x2.5...

    Breathing dust

One of my Reps in a previous employment got big C in his nose. He had been complaining to the Doc for ages that he was always sniffly. when they finally investigated and diagnosed..... he lost half his nose and one eye. Cause? Hardwoods/redwoods.

maintaining router bits - which diamond card etc?

The problem with gently honing is you MAY be causing more problems for the saw doc to cure at a later stage (gringing off more carbide to get the cutter back to peak condition) IMHO Ignore honing you should be able to get a feel for the performance of the cutter when used on other materials or...

    Router Bits

Jason I agree with using the disposable knife system. You get a harder grade of carbide, which cant be brazed onto the base metal and constant diameter when replacing the knives (sharpening reduces the diameter on TCT cutter) Is 50 mm long enough for some works tops? Though at 5.00 per edge they...

maintaining router bits - which diamond card etc?

You guys never cease to amaze me. A router is a precision tool and you want to sharpen it with a diamond card. How are you going to ensure that both wings (assuming its a two wing cutter) have the same cut circle? Nearest saw doc to you is probably John Porter in Meare Nr Glastonbury. Do...

    Saw doctor or new blade?

Hi Mick. In my previous employment I dealt with pretty much every saw doctor in the country, so can inform anyone about their local saw doctor. Southern Counties are one of the best. If you use them I would be grateful if you told them I recommended them. No connection but I would like them to...

    Saw doctor or new blade?

Any decent saw doctor should be able to get the blade back as good as new (if even better....the grinding wheels they use are often newer than the ones used on production lines) I am not sure who Oxon F are sending their blades to in Manchester (there's loads of sawdocs around there) but there...

    help.....again!!!! spindle moulder tooling

Jeff the majority of the pre-profiled knives for the Universal cutterheads are made from an "SP" quality knife and wont last long in oak. there are some companies that sell HSS, but that can vary as well. the most commonly used in woodworking is 18%. that will last better on oak. I cant find...

    Replacement Planer Blades

the silver ones are High Chrome. Not suited to Iroco at all. 260 mm ones would have cost 3.75 each. I suspect thats what you were sold. and charged an extremely high price if you were charged 50.00 for a set. not sure how long the metabo ones are but you could do a rough calculation from the...

    Replacement Planer Blades
