How can I tell if i might need a 16 amp supply?

I'm in the market for a new P/T and looking at the Axminster AWEPT106 (also looking at the AW106PT2 but it's £175 more, - that'll pay for the new morticer :D ). The blurb in the catalogue says that a 16 amp supply might be necessary if the voltage is 'on the low side' (whatever that means!)...

    What a deal!

I'm in the market for a new P/T and found this at Yandles: http://www.yandles.co.uk/acatalog/Schep ... esser.html I wonder how many people will buy at the special offer price?!

    Axminster Routalift

I used to have a routalift and found it a very good piece of kit. Swapped to a Triton and to be honest I wish I'd kept the routalift due to a few problems with the height adjustment on the Triton. The routalift is much more adjustable. For me the Triton really scores for above table bit...

Got my new axminster catalogue but have a question

I seem to remember in the good old days of the woodworking machine regs (unfortunately I go back that far!) the riving knife was supposed to be saw plate thickness plus 10%. I would never use a table saw without a riving knife but that is just a personal thing. Stuart

    Internal door finish

I'm having my internal doors stripped and I'm not sure whether to finish with wax or acrylic varnish. I know that wax will give me the 'glow' that I want but I'm worried that it will need to be constantly maintained. I've never been a huge fan of wax preferring instead the low maintenance of...

    Water based gloss

I know it's technically not woodworking (well I'm painting wooden doors!) but has anyone any experience of applying water based gloss over old oil based gloss? I've heard some horror stories and as I have 8 doors plus associated trim and some cladding to do I don't want to waste money on...

Advice on the best router table insert

I bow to thee oh great one ( :D ) but I've had my Triton in a Rousseau for some time now and haven't had any problems. On what basis do you think it's more trouble? That Woodpecker does look rather tasty though!

Glue joint mechanics - your opinions.

I'm a 'smooth joint' man and always have been (thank you Sir, - you taught me well!!). Does never having a joint fail work as an argument? I'd never even consider a 'rough' join unless it was for very crude work and appearance didn't matter. But then again .....

    Circular saw blades

Jason, Many thanks for the links, - why can't I find this stuff  Those Toolstation blades look amazingly cheap. Being something of a tight@rse they appeal but then the old 'you get what you pay for' comes screaming in to my mind!! Decisions, decisions, decisions. :D Stuart

    Circular saw blades

Thanks for the replies, - all helpful. Didn't see the Axminster one so far down the list!! Still can't seem to find any 210mm blades though. Suggestions?

    Circular saw blades

Having some trouble tracking down saw blades. Need a 200mm for the Kity 419. Current blade has 18 teeth so looking for similar (most of the use is ripping). Also the mitre saw, - 210mm with 24 teeth. Might increase the number of teeth for a smoother cut. Tried Axminster and Rutlands...

    The Beast has landed.

Byron, Think about e-mailing them a link to this forum. Considering what you've gone through I'll not use them. If they realise how much damage to their reputation something like this causes then just maybe they'll think again?

    Raised Panels

If I had a penny for every time someone told me that safety is 'just common sense' I be a reasonably well off man. I expect many of the 212 people who died at work and the 300,000 who reported injuries in 2005/06 though that as well. Pretty tough lesson to learn eh? I know that might sound a a...

    Triton problem

Have had my Triton upside down in the router table for over a year now and a stirling job it's done (well outside warranty now of course!). However, - the rise and fall seems to be playing up. The 'coarse' adjuster works as it should but the fine adjuster has become very 'tight' and almost...

    Tick, tock.... Finally finished

Thanks for all the compliments, - it's rather nice to place something like this in front of fellow woodworkers and have such nice things said. I'd always wanted to make one and do consider it now to be an heirloom, - my youngest son has said that he'd like to have it when I'm not around which...

    Tick, tock.... Finally finished

It's taken me a little over 5 months and I have to say I've never spent so much time thinking about a project. Having said that now that it's running I am very pleased with the outcome. Unfortunately I didn't take any WIP so it's just the finished product. Originally purchased a plan for a...

    Fitting glass to clock doors

On the final stretch now, - just the glass to fit and it's nearly finished! :D I will post some photos of the finished piece. I'm just wondering how to fit the glass in a manner that will allow reasonably easy replacement if necessary. Initially thought of putty but of course that will go...

    Bench Morticer from Axminster

Dave, I've got a cheap Draper as well and wondered how you managed to raise the 'legs' to increase clearance? My engineering skills are virtually zero and I can't see how to do it easily. Cheers Stuart

    Varnish or oil?

Thanks for your views, - I really do not consider myself a competent enough finisher to even consider shellac. I'd need to practice on a couple of jobs first. I was probably leaning more towards a varnish finish as I tend to know what I'm doing with it. However, I do like the overall appearance...
