    Re-cycling MDF

I agree completely. What is 'common sense' to one isn't to another. Without the requisite evidence how do you know for example that the temperatures involved don't negate the impact of any glue residue? And it does my head in when people make statements like yours so we're even then? :D

    sash clamps, new v old?

For my sins I bought a set of 6 of the Rutlands (coughs and spits into corner) sash clamps some time ago. They're not as good as old fashioned records or similar (rough castings, thinner steel). However, they do what clamps are supposed to do and clamp things! Not really a lot to go wrong with...

Jet AFS-500 air filter PCB repair – help please.

Me too! Just installed a replacement PCB provided (FOC) by Axminster for a 14 month old device. It has sorted the problem but with less than 70 ish hours of operation I'm sort of wondering how long before this ones goes as it looks identical? The nice man from Axminster said the sales to...

How fed up are you with hearing about dust?

Sammy, - it won't so I'd suggest not even trying. A thicknesser will produce a lot of shavings rather than dust and these shavings will overwhelm a vacuum in seconds. I use one of the bigger 'bin type' extractors with a 100mm hose. I know zilch about separators, cyclones etc. but there are...

Jet Air Filter Noise and Movement When Off

I remembered reading this thread a week or so ago and lo and behold my Jet filter started to exhibit similar symptoms. It's over a year old and purchased from Axminster. A quick e-mail to their technical help people produces a response that a new PCB is on it's way. I can only assume that there...

    Bandsaw table height

Ask you H&S people to do a proper ergonomic assessment of the job. They should then look at the combination of people, tools and equipment needed to carry out the job safely. They should be aware (if they're any good) that we're all different and there's a need to consider adjustments for some...

Small industrial unit of 500 sq ft. How much rent?

Given that Yeovil is a 'pooh pile' and property prices are generally quite a lot cheaper in Somerset you may be getting a reasonable deal. The electric included could be really useful if you're going to use much. Does the landlord know what you intend to do and whether you'll be using much...

    Google search settings

This appears to have worked for now. I must admit to getting rather paranoid about allowing computers etc. to know my exact location (they are watching me you know!) so I had previously blocked this. Serves me right! Thanks all for the help.

    Google search settings

I use Google a lot but have recently started to become more frustrated as the search results are almost exclusively US based. I have to remember to put UK at the end of every search I do to bring up geographically relevant results. Signed in as me with a dot co dot uk address so it should know...

    Tuffsaws bandsaw blades - speechless.

Interesting link thanks Bob, - by crikey can he talk! I'm tempted to have a go but wonder if life is a tad too short?! :D

    Rutlands - pricing and reviews?

I used to use Rutlands and generally if it's a 'branded' product I think you're OK. In my experience Dakota stuff is absolute carp! Bought a small compressor/airbrush for my eldest and it packed up within minutes of use. Returned it and was supplied with a 'brand new' replacement. Unfortunately...

    Tuffsaws bandsaw blades - speechless.

My last few blades from Ian have been M42's and whilst they aren't cheap they do a fantastic job. I cut a fair amount of reclaimed wood and they deal with the odd nail reasonably well. I'm still searching for a use for blunt blades, - there must be something useful to do with them?

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Wouldn't it be nice, she said, to remove the built in wardrobes and have some freestanding ones so that when we move we can take them with us? This ended up being a full suite of bedroom furniture so we have hanging space with drawers under together with a chest of drawers and two bedside...

    another ebay "scam"

I'm not going to provide a list of 'hits and scams' when you're all perfectly capable of finding out for yourselves! There's been plenty of threads on here as well relating to 'weirdness' on the bay. As an occasional seller of some high value items it's something I'm very aware of. How many can...

You can't say that anymore. It's insulting and demeaning to those who haven't got any! :D

    another ebay "scam"

I think it's getting to the stage where eBay is becoming almost unusable for the 'ordinary' seller. There are so many 'scams', fees etc. that you really don't know how you may be hit next. I recently sold a small item for about £60 and spent far too much time worrying about how I might be...

    Never buy a Mazda

I suppose it's no consolation that our 7 year old Mazda 2 is totally rust free? :D :D :D Quite often it's just one model rather than the whole brand. I did have a Toyota Corolla years ago and when changing a wheel the jack just kept on going into the bodywork!
