    Kitchen cabinet standards?

From memory the Hafale catalogue has detailed dimensions for fixing holes etc. for all its accessories (unless that's changed?). I know it's available as a download so you can browse from a very extensive range of stuff (some you never knew you needed!). There is also quite a lot of online...

Poor quality parquet flooring - re-engineering

If the backs are coated in bitumen adhesive (as is usual for second hand parquet) then I wouldn't put them anywhere near a thicknesser. The brittleness of the bitumen (along with the small bits of 'crap' that will be stuck to it as well) will shag your blades quicker then anything. You don't...

    "French cleat" or something else?

I think you'll find that Spanish Windlass was originally a form of execution practised by the (funnily enough) Spanish as garroting was at one time their preferred method of execution. The stick and a bit of rope technique can exert an awful lot of pressure. No idea about French cleat!

    Overhead 100mm extraction for tablesaw?

It was on offer at Yandles show! There's a whole range of these Chiwanese clones with very similar performance and you can choose which you prefer or is on offer at the time.

    Overhead 100mm extraction for tablesaw?

I've always found it a PITA trying to get extraction for a table saw set up in such a way as it doesn't get in the way or suffer from a lack of suck due to long runs. In the end I gave up and now use one of these https://www.screwfix.com/p/scheppach-ha ... GwodiB0Lbg It extracts from the back...

That's the man! He makes some nice stuff (IMHO of course!).

    Windsor Chairs

As the mag dropped through the letterbox I thought that looks cool. I wouldn't want one or attempt to make one but I just like the twist on the traditional design. Best book I've found is Chairmaking and Design by Jeff Miller (ISBN 0 85442 155 6). Covers basic design issues and has a number of...

    Changing gas n electric suppliers...

As far as I’m aware the Hive system isn’t free (I had to pay for ours at our old place) and you’d be able to refuse it if it isn’t what you want. Don’t be taken in by any flash sales speak, make sure it’s what you want and it works for you before any commitment.

    Pitch Pine Flooring

I too have fond memories of 'pine' parquet flooring. I dislike telling people to google things but I did and found this: https://parquet-parquet.co.uk/products- ... parquet-2/ Any use? Also some other interesting results.

    34 rubbish emails this morning

Army spam fritters, - hockey pucks for the hungry! On topic I find g mail excellent since I moved to them. Nothing, - but then it isn't in the hand tool forum is it

    Media player?

We've got a Yamaha sound deck for the telly, - excellent sound. I Bluetooth one of my ipods (not a new one, several years old) for window rattling music (only when the wife's at work, of course!). Bluetooth does suck the battery though so be aware.

    Dehumidifiers

I'll tell you what Bob, - I'll increase my thermostat to 22 and run it 24 hours a day, you make a (significant!) donation to my (significantly!) increased fuel bill! :D :D I'd rather spend 10 minutes every day 'desmisting' than the several hundred pound increase in fuel bills. You pays your...

Be wary of what you say to your doctor

Whilst you may have only ‘ticked a box’ what was the wording that explained what the tick was granting access to? Have you kept a copy of the application form Roger? And of course one of the real kickers can be if you apply to another firm and they ask if you’ve ever been refused insurance before!

Be wary of what you say to your doctor

Whilst the tendency is to 'blame' the insurance company (and why not, - the blood sucking bottom feeders  ) it is almost certainly about actuarial tables. Data gathered over tens of years showing a a person who is X% more (or in some cases less) than the norm isn't a good risk as Y%...

    Bathroom Suppliers. Suggestions please!

We've fairly recently refitted two bathrooms and whilst the on line stuff is enticing price wise I really wasn't prepared to buy something I couldn't see or feel the quality of. We ended up using a couple of small local specialist bathroom places. Yes, they sell the mega expensive (made in...

    Caravan parts rip off.

If you think putting caravan in front of something makes it expensive try putting BMW! I forget how much they wanted for a windscreen washer pump (triple digits) but the ebay one was less than a tenner.

Replacing bearings in Axminster AW106PT planer?

If you bought it new from Axminster give them a ring (or email) and explain the issue. The technical people are very helpful and at just over 3 years old you might get some help if the bearings have really gone. Worth a try at the very least.
