    Cutting to the line

I have heard that before but don't believe it and don't practise it. How do you know if the joint fits properly all the way if you don't test fit properly all the way?

Axminster Pillar Drill - Why Is This Happening

If it’s only about a year old (warranty?) give Axminster a ring (or email them) and tell them about the issue. I’d be surprised if they don’t help you out.

    Sorting an uneven concrete floor

Paul, Are you looking for a flat floor or a level floor? Understand why you'd want a flat floor not so much a level floor. Flat is obviously much easier to achieve and with careful use of self levelling or just battens on existing should be achievable. If you do want level than you're gonna...

    New Axminster Craft Bandsaws

From what I can tell (from conversations with ax staff) there has been something of a **** up. They’ve launched the new catalogue and with it the craft range but they’ve been let down by a supplier so have no stock! I’m prepared to wait for what I want but how many will look elsewhere?

    Cheval mirror fixings

I'm looking for this type of fixing: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cheval-Mirror- ... B004911A5U Struggling to find a UK supplier of (preferably) polished or satin chrome. Anyone know of a supplier? Plenty of the 'slot in' type but this is an old, heavy mirror so need a heavier duty fixing.

Axminster now have the Harvey (xcalibur) saw for preorder..

When I had a chat in the shop a couple of weeks ago they said it was replacing the TS 250 which is why stocks of the 250 have been running low. Shame it hasn't got the same motor power or cutting capability. Apparently one of the main changes is wider mitre fence slots as many people whinged...

    I'd heard... but never knew.

I've been lucky enough to have several 'attacks' over the years. Having broken major bones and had other serious injuries I can safely say kidney stones are the worst pain I've ever suffered. Ever. I had the ultra sound lithotripsy a few months ago to help break up an 18 mm stone (it's like an...

    Varnishing/sealing a sanded plank floor?

I've used Ronseal Diamond acrylic floor varnish to great effect. As a family of 5 with 2 dogs it lasted years and I only had to patch before we moved. I know some people don't like the surface appearance of the water based finishes but for us this stuff was virtually bomb proof.

    FTAGH - Gone

Years ago I used to make lots of wooden toys and the latest clear out has unearthed these. 2" plastic wheels (16) 1 1/2" wooden wheels (38) 20 mm wooden balls with hole in the middle (7) 1 metre of thin gold coloured chain A few axle caps and some bits and pieces of dowel If interested yours...

    Tormek Supergrind 1204

Tormek Supergrind 1204 (believe it's now the T4?). Had this a while and it isn't being used. Started off with a 200 mm wheel and it's still 197 mm or very close to it so not masses of use. In addition to the standard flat blade jig it comes with the universal gouge jig (SVD-180), Gouge jig...

    Jet 16 - 32 Plus Drum Sander - sold

The downsizing continues and as I simply won't have the room the drum sander is next to go! I bought it second hand in almost new condition from a member on here and haven't used it an awful lot. Comes with the extension tables and has (Jet) castors fitted to the base. Includes several loadings...

Fixing a crack in a worktop

Another for epoxy as well but be aware that if you get it on other areas of end grain you may end up with problems with your finish and it will 'grin' through. I've use pound shop epoxy with success and you could also use it to seal all the end grain at the same time?

Oil based paint / water based paint....

I've used loads of water based over oil based (in fact I won't used oil based now) and never had an issue with later flaking when redecorating. Could it simply be an issue with poor preparation previously? I always rub down well and then use sugar soap.

SOLD - Axminster TSCE 12R Tablesaw

The inevitable downsize means I have to sell my table saw. Specifications are as this one https://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-i ... h-ax649822. Purchased in 2012 but not had a massive amount of use as it was in storage for a while. It's the 230 volt version but does need a 16 amp supply. It's...

    Noise

Please Miss, he made a horrible noise and I don't like it. No Miss he made a horrible noise and I don't like it (repeat as many times as you wish). And it really doesn't matter if it's in the same manner. Adult it ain't. Compromise it ain't. Favours bit is fine, I've done that for neighbours...

    Noise

That's not a particularly adult way to go about it thought is it? The problem with noise is it's very subjective and what one person finds objectionable another person will just shrug and say so what. If you're friendly enough have a chat and ask exactly what he finds objectionable and when...

    keeping things up to date

Just be careful. I worked for an organisation that was 'fire related' and given a number of out of date extinguishers. One of these was later operated and duly exploded causing some significant injuries. Subsequent investigations showed marked internal corrosion of the dry powder extinguisher.

Let’s see your photos of the nicest tree’s you’ve seen

This one is in Ayutthaya, Thailand. And of course this is a cliche but so what! The redwoods are magnificent but I couldn't help think 'how many coffee tables could you get out of one of those?!' edit - no idea why that's gone sideways!
