    Stacking wood

I think (but could be wrong) you have more chance of the wood warping but if the ends of the wood are stacked off the floor and spacing is between the boards I cannot see any reason why you could not stack them as such it still lets the air flow around them. Cheers Mark

    Teeny tiny workshop and bench

For quite some time I used a workmate with some 18mm ply fitted to it (removing the standard boards you get on it). I also cut a whole in the middle for a router insert. I still use this when I need a portable bench (when the winter is here and have to move to the front room to do a little bit...

Arnold Laver (Reading) - hardwood price

ask how much it is if you pay by cash and dont need a receipt. Usually works well for my local merchant. Or just ask if they can do any better price on it. Cheers Mark

    Wall Tool Chest (potential WIP)

Woow Owen, just woow. Some great work there. Love the grain on that wood and like the tool chest as a whole. I especially like the little touch of the fold out rack. When I get the my own dedicated workshop I will be making something like this for sure. Cheers Mark

    18mm mdf over a 1200mm span

hmm well i would be able to do a 25mm square support i think but i would have to redesign the unit that sits under the desk on the right hand side so it sits 25 mm lower. not a mega lose so should be fine really Cheers Mark

    18mm mdf over a 1200mm span

Hi All, I am going to build a little desk for the computer and was wondering if I would receive any bowing from 18mm mdf over a 1200mm span. the main desk unit will look like this as you can see simply construction, it will a little unit to that sits under the right hand side but will not...

    Bathroom

Hi waka, Water has not appeared to be an issue as of yet for the shelving. The only place that does get a bit wet is the top, but that is why I tiled that. Yeah I would have like to have gone with hidden hinge but not sure of the type I could go with as the door is only 8mm thick. This misses...

    Bathroom

Hi All, Thought I would talk about the recent project I have been working on in the house, the bathroom. As well as decorating and tiling the floor. I made a new bath panel that allowed for under bath storage and I made a couple of units that sit around the sink for storage and to act as a...

    Bowed work piece after painting

I flattened it out and then coated it in a marine lacqure so should help protect it within the bathroom environment. I used the same stuff on the bath panelling and seems to be ok so far.

    Bowed work piece after painting

Hi Pete, Oh right it was quite amazing how much it bowed over the space of about 1 hour. it literally turned into a semi circle I was quite surprised. The panel door style would not go with the rest of the design in the bathroom so was limited to what to do. I will post some pic in the projects...

    Bowed work piece after painting

Hi all, I painted a door I made for one of our bathroom cabinets I made but whilst it was drying it bowed (and I mean like a lot of bow from and "l" shape to "c" shape type bow) It was made out of 8mm tongue and groove pine boards that were glued together with a 6mm piece of ply on the back to...

    Fold up table

yeah i typically go to toolstation as they are usually cheaper I got the t-nuts from there and the pan head machine screws but they dont have the cross dowel bolts or insert nuts which is a tad annoying. will probably just get them from screwfix as i will find a use for them anyway (got a few...

    Fold up table

Hey Baldhead, I used some t nuts in the legs with some pan head m6 bolts much more pleasing the the eye than thread bar haha. But i like the look of the cross dowel m6 bolts you sent me so will be getting a pack of them to finish the table off with and for future table builds.
