    Porch Foundation (again, sorry)

Hey Robin, Yeah the soil pipe comes down the side I was actually looking at pillar system so I am assuming the pads is similar to doing this? do i need to dig 2 holes to under the depth of the soil pipe as before? If I don't cut into the existing building I could just do a hole and pour a...

    Porch Foundation (again, sorry)

Hi Robin, Here is a rough sketch of what i am trying to achieve. and from what I have seen it appears that the soil line runs as shown As far as I am aware it is only our property and we feed into an rectangular inspection chamber that is in the middle of the communal access road (the type...

    Porch Foundation (again, sorry)

I think what I have to do is actually dig where the foundations will be and see the soil type I have. From what I read the raft foundation is an option for soft / shjte soil types

    Porch Foundation (again, sorry)

Would a raft foundation be sufficient for the foundation for it with rebar reinforcement. Or could a slab foundation with rebar reinforcement be OK if the soil is correct for it (like a firm or solid clay, I think that's what we have) Cheers Mark

    Porch Foundation (again, sorry)

I'm gonna look at designing the porch on sketch up maybe tonight so I'll put up here when done so you can see what I'm talking about a little more clearly

    Porch Foundation (again, sorry)

Yeah not really wanting to move the line for a porch. Bridging over it is not a problem. Direct neighbours don't have porches, but people just around the corner have small ones under the 3m2 limit so no planning needed I'm looking at being under the 3m2 prob about 2.6 ish so no planning is...

    Porch Foundation (again, sorry)

That would be a hell of a lot more digging to sort that out and add unneeded bends to the pipe flow. I though they needed to be left as straight as possible.

    Porch Foundation (again, sorry)

Hey, yeah I will be litoling over as it goes through the foundation. What about the depth I need to go down so it does not interfere with the inspection chamber. I suppose if going under the soil pipe it will prob be enough to go under the inspection chamber Cheers Mark

    Porch Foundation (again, sorry)

Hi bob, OK I get ya. I do have a manhole cover next to where the foundation will run in parrelle with. Does it make a difference to depth of foundation. Some pics of front of house so you can see cheers mark

    Porch Foundation (again, sorry)

Oh right OK, its just my Grandad lives just around the corner from me and he done his porch on a slab foundation and that is half brick half PVC. It's been up for quite a while and has lasted well. I will see what the soil is like outside and see if I could achieve it.

    Porch Foundation (again, sorry)

Hi all, Second post related to a porch foundation but I think it is best to be in a different thread. I have been thinking and if I am just making a wood framed porch (with either soft wood or pvc cladding) could I just use like a concrete slab for a foundation for the frame to sit on? My...

Foundation Size needed for a part brick and timber porch

Yeah I was going to go 600 minimum. Or even just dig to match existing house foundations. The soil pipe would run adjacent to the front of the porch. So o may even have to rake foundation lower to go under the pipe so the load is spread under it. Cheers Mark

Foundation Size needed for a part brick and timber porch

Hi robin, yeah the building is under permitted dev and except from building regs. What do you mean with regards to a vertical cut? There currently is a covering when the porch will be so the porch will meet up to that

Question regardi g a manhole cover

Ah right ok no probs swb. May borrow my uncles dyno rods and sweep it through just in case

Question regardi g a manhole cover

Why do you say that swb? Just looked at it a bit ago and it is clearer now (the water at least and can see the bottom). I think it was because I just washed out the soil that was in the pipe

Question regardi g a manhole cover

yeah from what I have seen, it does seem to be my responsibility. (bonus for coming to extensions and that as I dont need to pay £500 to get permission to build near it)

Foundation Size needed for a part brick and timber porch

Hi all, Looking at building a porch and I was going to make it part brick and part timber. I was going to have the brick part 500mm (or should it be more or less, im dont mind if it is just dpc height and then the timber frame sits on that) in height and then the timber frame built on top of...
