Phil, Newark is in the middle of Lincolnshire ...... Miles from east Anglian It's at least dual carriageway all the way. Assuming you come up the m69 I think there are just 4 roundabouts all the way. You could alway move to the posher side of the Midlands

    Professional Grade Angle Grinders

Park side is made in Germany and the Germans do not just pay lip service to standards ( although there is the Volkswagen Emission fiasco to blow my argument out of the water  ). I used to teach vibration Awareness and did practicals with test meters vs feel. I used to take in my own angle...

    Broken Plane, Big Deal?

I am a bit perplexed about the concept of cast iron flexing. I don't profess to be an expert on such matters, but can't see it myself on a big lump like a 5 with a little bit knocked out of it. Certainly I would not bin it, as sooner or later it's a donor.

    Professional Grade Angle Grinders

I agree with your reasoning and have two "park side quality"ones so I can keep a wire cup brush fitted on one. I see no difference between them and more expensive makes HOWEVER, the OP wants one for work so he will need 110v as 240v is rarely (if ever) acceptable.

    Handed-ness of doors

Watching Scandi cop shows I wondered about this too. Assumed it's to do with pushing snow away from the threshold originally and now has become a done thing even in blocks of flats.

What part of "I have had an accident" don't you comprehend?" I would guess John is not feeling too great at the moment and creating photos is not a priority.

    Bog oak treasure trove.

Me too! Even the scraps will be of interest to pen turners. Can you give us a clue where you are? Rough postcode? I have a planned trip to Ipswich may/ June time

    Cherry Wood

Rob, An axe (IMHO) does not have a wide enough taper. And anyway one wedge is no where near enough, as you just end up with the equivalent of the sword in the stone, which I guess is how you broke the shaft. Unless the lump was full of knots I would expect those logs to cleave through the...

    Cherry Wood

If they had turned up at my place, I would have split the log down the centre. Just this action reduces drying splits by about 50% This is easy with a few wedges and a lump hammer. You can even make the wedges out of wood. I find this activity satisfies my inner caveman too :)
