    M&T chisel size?

I have been cutting M&it's for 50 years and was not aware there was a LAW that said the chisels had to be a third of the size nor that only one chisel was allowed. Stop over thinking it and use both were appropriate yer daft lad ( or are you just being ironic ???).

    Fiat V Ferrari

If we all thought the same it would be a boring world. I own very few "new" tools as I really enjoy finding a old but tatty tool and fettling it into something usable. It's a secondary, subsidiary hobby but can become a rabbit hole pushing out the woodworking. I have to own up to this to some...

    Tuff Saws rock!

Ian at tuff saws really understands the benefits of customer service. And in the long run, I bet it's cheaper and easier than having to advertise. Why are there so few companies who realise this? His blades are so good and so cheap there is no excuse not to replace blades more frequently (or so...

Yay, bullnose plane prices set to rise

I should have specified record, sorry! I have a Preston 311 where someone has brazed the longer part to the plane making it a small shoulder. It's quite nicely balanced.

Yay, bullnose plane prices set to rise

You have got me confused (over numbers) now. Surely the 77 and 77a are bull nosed planes. You are not tired and emotional already are you?? :D :D

    Craft fairs?

Yeh but........ Serious buyers don't go to craft fairs. I can see the workmanship and appreciate the hours that went into that beautiful bowl but would be surprised if you could get 30 quid for it at a craft fair. So far as I am concerned craft fairs are sources of inspiration for things I...

Yay, bullnose plane prices set to rise

I have over the years, aquired three '77s and never used any of them. I have toyed with the idea of screwing a lump of hardwood (or brass) to the front of one and turning it into a shoulder plane. Pretty much like the 311 . Anyone tried this, or can see problems

    Craft fairs?

From what I have seen, is you work out the hours spent on a piece and multiply by 25p ! Every craft fair I have seen is the same as all the others.

    Wooden hand plane advice

A few years back Axminster "sponsored" schools making a block plane. Maybe someone here has the plans (was British Woodworking involved??) If I was you, a block plane would be where I would start.

    Hello - Newbie from Scotland

I would suggest the lathe could be quite dangerous if you do not bolt it down to the bench. At best it will vibrate / move so much you will never get anything made.

    band saw

Duncs, I see you are in Leicester. Charnwood machinery is a few minutes up the road You can look at some bandsaws in the flesh in their showroom, a chap called Richard works there, he will explain the pros and cons of the various models; knowledge you can apply to other brands. Charnwood are...

    Aldi wine

About 6 months ago I bought the cheapest red Aldi had, for making rich gravy. It was so nice it's the only red we drink at home since then and the only wine we buy from Aldi. Grapevine merlot £3.69.
