    Selling things

Yes I saw that, however in one of his sales posts he says he is just north of Bedford. That's why first part of his postcode would remove any confusion.

    Hammer in fixings

Having never used them before I did not understand how they might unscrew. Having played, I now get it.

Richard, It might help a little bit if you post the first part of your postcode. That way interested buyers know roughly how far they are going to need to travel. I sympathise with your reluctance to get involving the hassle of posting heavy items.

    Hammer in fixings

Have been experimenting. They screw in fine with a drill driver, prefer to do this as there is no risk of hitting the mdf and damaging the surface. Best thing was actually my Yankee. I drilled through the mdf and into the brick below with a masonry bit, I found I got a cleaner finish by...

    Hammer in fixings

I have bought (for the first time) some hammer in fixings. I plan to use them to fit MDF skirting board. I need to experiment before committing myself I see how they work but, Do you use a impact driver to fit them? I assume so, as they have a posi head. How do you remove them if you put them...

    Masonry screws - skirting board

Thanks for that. The bloke who suggested it offered to lend me his gun, but I don't like borrowing tools.

    Masonry screws - skirting board

Bit of a resurrection for which I apologise . After advice here, I had settled for plug and screw. More recently (am now in a position to order) I thought about gripfill. Then a tradesman I was talking to said foam, is easiest . I looked at toolstation offerings and am confused  Some...

Fair enough if your views are based on experience. What did you buy and what was wrong with it?

    Charnwood universal rip fence

I am bias because Charnwood is close enough for me to visit and I know the blokes there now. But their stuff is most likely made in the same factory as record, Axminster and all the rest. They have always given me good support and their kit is value for money. Anyone here who is just going on...

    Plane greedy

That’s going to be more difficult than doing them up. Can’t think of any politician with integrity and honour offhand.

    Experiences/ideas please - Cable-less house vac cleaners

I used to work for Sanyo, they went bust about 20 years ago. The decent bits were bought by Panasonic.

    Experiences/ideas please - Cable-less house vac cleaners

Our g tech upright plus a totally independent hand one came as a set for £250. They are brilliant!! Recommend it to anyone. Can easily clean a normal semi about four times per charge. It’s so easy to use that I have taken over vacuuming the house. Emptying it is strangely satisfying! The...

    Floor boards

After lifting floor boards to replace services, I am now ready to fix down the boards, repairing as I go along. Taking them up damaged the tongue and groove. I plan to refit with screws, partly because it’s faster and also if I ever need to lift them again, it will be easier. The boards had two...

    Plane greedy

I would be surprised if they were quite that old, but they are certainly of a vintage that they will be both decent users. If they were mine, I would give Trudeau a quick makeover to get him up and running. Then with what you have learned you could do up trump at your leisure. Trump needs a...

    Swallows and bats

Can I do a slight hi jack. My new place has some mature trees next door (Victorian cemetery) and I would like to put up a bat box or two. Can anyone suggest a good design? Also, are grey squirrels a problem to bats?
