Painting and sealing pine & Plywood bed

Thanks tyreman. On other projects I have used Zinsser Bulls Eye 123 as a primer and have been happy with the results. I would like to stick with water-based as I'll be spraying it and prefer the clean-up with water. I have so far only finished with paint and Osmo Polyx Oil (wiped on) so know...

Painting and sealing pine & Plywood bed

Thanks rogxwhit. Do you know if it is sprayable? The rust-oleum website doesn't mention spraying. I would be using a Fuji Mini Mite 4. I'm guessing it is also water-based as it is fast-drying?

Spray kit recommendations ( walls and cabinets )

The paint was new. I don't have a filter on the airline from the turbine, if that's what you mean? There is a filter in the small airline that goes into the cup, and that looks fine but I've got no reference really. It seems to be spraying fine and I think I have just been overthinking the...

Spray kit recommendations ( walls and cabinets )

I wish I had tried this sooner! This evening I sprayed some Cuprinol Garden Shades without any thinning with the 1.8mm tip and it was no problem. Still learning how to get the pattern/air combination right but the mini mite had no problem atomising it. Thanks MikeJhn!

Continuing Problems Setting Planer Knife Height.

I'm having similar issues, having spent a very frustrating hour or two trying to get one blade sorted but still failing. I can't see how the supplied knife block is expected to work, as adjusting the grub screws moves the whole block up and down, it usually ends up with the clamping bolts...

Small workshop vacuum for chip and sanding dust control

Do you think the next model down, the AW82E, would be OK for extraction from a Metabo HC260? It is rated at about 75% of the airflow of yours. Axminster Workshop AW82E Dust Extractor - 230V

Festool Domino DF500 connectors for a kids bed?

Domino DF700 and connectors arrive tomorrow :)

    Benchtop Planer / Thicknesser

Thanks Spectric. I had seen in other similar threads that you had the PT107, so reading your experience is appreciated. I think the Metabo is the best option for me at the moment as I can get that plus a chip extractor for less than either of the more expensive machines. I'm looking forward...

    Benchtop Planer / Thicknesser

You're right. The more I look at this, the more crazy the price difference is between the Metabo and the DeWalt. For the same price as the DeWalt, you can get a Record Power PT107, weighing three times more and with cast iron tables, without taking up much more floor space. Although the room...

    Toddler Bed Advice

😂 sounds like all of my projects I'm also about to make some beds for the kids. I had read you should get the mattress first so had planned to get as much prep done as possible and then just cut to final dimensions when they arrive, but how much variation could be expected from the standard...

Festool Domino DF500 connectors for a kids bed?

This kind of thing? https://www.onestopdiy.com/home-bedroom/furniture-rod-rail-fittings/barrel-bolts-nuts Edit: removed my own daft question!

Festool Domino DF500 connectors for a kids bed?

And there it is :). That's decided then. So now off to work out if I can avoid the temptation to get the 700.

Festool Domino DF500 connectors for a kids bed?

The weight of argument is increasingly on the side of not using them! I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of having tried it and can give a "I've used them and they were great" or a "I've used them and they were a disaster".

Festool Domino DF500 connectors for a kids bed?

I'm bidding on the commission to make some new beds for the kids. They will be quite simple and quick single beds. I want to use some knock down fixings to attach the head and foot, and wondered if the connectors for my df500 would be OK to use? Probably with two connectors and one domino or...

    Benchtop Planer / Thicknesser

Ah yeah; a hinged table I wouldn't be concerned about, but the outfeed table is completed removed on the Metabo when changing modes. I'll admit I'm probably worrying for no good reason, but it just doesn't seem like it could maintain accuracy like that.

    Benchtop Planer / Thicknesser

As I've never had a planer (or used anything other than sheet material or PSE), I'm don't know if 150mm is going to be limiting for me or not. The noise I'm not so concerned about; I always wear ear defenders anyway and I work in the garage which isn't too close to anyone else. Yeah the price...

Somebody stop me.... Imminent Festool purchase

Thank you Doug and Mike. Those videos are amazing. I have previously done a shallow scoring cut across the top first, and then plunged down through the material on the side nearest me, and then pushed the saw back. I noticed doing that causes the spray pattern to change through the cut, and...

    Benchtop Planer / Thicknesser

Yeah that's a good point. I was originally thinking that two smaller machines would be easier to store (as you need a smaller space for each), and I'm sort of resigned to the fact that I have to get stuff out onto the workbench to use. That would leave me leaning towards the DeWalt, if I can...
