Thanks for that (I got a notification this time for once) I only have a little, but find its okay for some things and not others, not sure it would be the right sort of finish for this learning tower Its certainly a thought though, thanks for the suggestion

    Cordless portable doorbell...any good?

I am another one who has been through several different types, all went US in a year or so, range was never a problem and we live upstairs in a tallish building with very thick walls, but either the bell push failed or the unit Having got fed up with missing deliveries/collections or visitors...

    Multi-lane roundabouts

If its a route I have not taken before and know in advance I need to go that way I do a virtual trip on google maps, I have found that helps immeasurably as you can see landmarks and study signs to see where you need to be Works most of the time for me not that I venture out *that* much these...

    Dumbed down TV programs

We have had threads on here previously re the shows that upcycle stuff from the tip etc and the weird and wonderful things they create, then sell for astronomic sums Has anyone caught the latest of the cheap to produce shows, the Bidding Room on BBC Where 5 "dealers" bid for items brought...

Gluing pattern straight to bare wood

The cheapest ;-) I have only bought one pack which I wasn't entirely happy about, the glue wasn't as strong as others I had before or since, it was okay but just not as sticky, they still worked okay I have some in my wish list on Amazon but can't remember if they are the same as I have had...

Gluing pattern straight to bare wood

My only additional advice, should you wish to try this, is to try and make sure any labels you buy are the type with a thin perforated border all around the edge on the top face, the side you print on (makes peeling off the backing much easier when printing several small items on one page) I...

Gluing pattern straight to bare wood

I use A4 self adhesive labels Print pattern on and apply direst to the wood After cutting depending on the wood, a wipe over with turps subs and the remains of the pattern will usually peel off in one go It costs about 7p per A4 sheet No glue, no painters tape, no mess

    Screwfix

I fell foul of this when I ordered a scroll saw and paid for it online, wanting it then rather than wait, off I went to pick it up, they refused my pick up as I didn't have the card I used to pay for it online (it was not obvious you had to do so at the time and I used a card I only use for...

    New parkside scrollsaw

Its probably thermal paper, heat it up and it goes black but the letters/numbers can become readable But a photo is way better and easier to find ;-)

    New parkside scrollsaw

Does your Parkside saw have a foot pedal? If it does they have only supplied that for less than a year which might lend weight to a request They may still say receipt is required but it might be worth asking A bit late now I know but when I buy substantial items especially where there is a...

Any cyclists? Get the miles in!

I could understand it fully were it an ordinary road, but this is a service road for buses, taxis and delivery trucks, I am not aware of a single incident involving a cycling accident at that point so why waste money on such a pointless project? There is a pavement on the other side (with kerb)...

Any cyclists? Get the miles in!

Quite so but that does not make it right or sensible Its often said that the councils use up their spare cash in budgets before the new financial year or they will get lower funding the next year, how true that is I can't say but filling a few pot holes in the road would be better use of the...

Any cyclists? Get the miles in!

As a slightly side issue My nephew (nearly 50) came a cropper yesterday on his bike The council in their infinite wisdom decided to "upgrade" an existing cycle path in the centre of town (Newquay) the existing path was well used and well known and there had been no known issues as far as I...
