    Festool FSZ 120 clamps

I think I have worked out the cause of my problem with the clamps. This image is typical of how I have been setting up the clamp. I assume that because the clamp has made contact with the workpiece (in this case a door), that it is held up in it's groove and not achieving the required...

European Woodworking Show - Cressing Temple Barns, Essex

These are suggestions for other places to visit - I have no connection with any of the bars, restaurants etc :- Check these out. Aldeburgh - 'Islington on Sea' - Art gallerys, fab fish and chip shop. Woodbridge - Tide Mill, Boutique shops, restaurants (The Table, Galley, The Crown), Violin...

    Festool FSZ 120 clamps

I have had a pair of these clamps for a few weeks and have used them about a dozen times to clamp my track saw rail to the 18mm plywood that I have been cutting. Despite doing up the clamp to what I expect to be a sufficient amount I find that the clamp becomes loose either before or shortly...

    Differance between mitre and t-track

I think you will find that although the external dimensions are the same, the internal ones and the form are not. The mitre track is for dropping in the tongue of the mitre gauge whilst the T track is for retaining and allowing a bolt head to slide along it.

    Workmate based MFT style bench.

Rorschach It is pretty rigid as it is - clamping it in the workmate would increase it. I have used it with my track saw in this general setup about 5 times - for 2 of those I moved the MFT away from the workmate jaws so that I could support the piece being cut off. A clamping bar that could be...

    Workmate based MFT style bench.

My setup just sits on a B&D workmate and a Stanley tressle. I bought the MFT from a CNC workshop in Wrexham. I have mounted it on some CLS to give the clearance for Festool clamps - the MFT is located on the CLS via the 8mm dowel holes pre existing in the MFT. Lipped with some softwood to avoid...

    Plane sole flattening

For both points it is so that the 'sharp' corner of the plane does not cut into the workpiece.

Dewalt Plunge Saw Owners. Question Please

I got the impression that the saw was flexing, but that seems unlikely.

    Green oak off cuts

I have seen large door stops made from chunks (6 x 6 x 6) - with various things embedded in the top to create a handle for moving them. Examples are - the head of a golf club, thick rope with a knot at the end, an old chisel driven in, large metal ring.

    Fox Bandsaws

MikeJhn No, I have only ever used the 316. Not sure what g7... wants to use it for - hence I suggested he checks the spec.

    Fox Bandsaws

Have you considered a secondhand Elektra Beckum / Metabo 316? You should be able to pick one up for £200 - 250. Check out its capacity to see if it suits. When tuned - tension, tracking, fence aligned to table mitre slot - it works well.

    Motor for dust extractor

Whilst using my Scheppach HA1000 it trips the circuit breaker at the consumer unit. The switch checks out OK, so Iassume the motor has died. I can't find a replacement at a sensible price. I have found a reconditioned complete unit with used motor for £60 or a re-con with new motor for £80 -...

    Aldi clamps.

    Aldi clamps.

Has anyone else had difficulty disengaging the larger size of clamp? I have been using them for your ups and have tightened the clamps to the point of glue squeeze out. I find it very difficult to operate the disengage button by hand and often have to use the smaller size clamp to do so.

    Two, non essential questions.

Does the set change while you are actually using the plane or after putting it down for a while and then using it again? Could it be that it gets 'bumped' and that is when the set changes? You said that the blade, frog etc are flat - have you tried bluing the surfaces to see if there is a high...

Surface Planer Tables Not Dead Flat = Surface Grind?

I don't think it is necessary to do anything. You might find somewhere that would scrape it rather than grind it. I think you should set your machine up as best you can and bake that 0.001 into your setting tolerance. Good luck.
