    Dust extraction

I use a Wet/Dry vac, but as mentioned, they're only good for small tools that produce dust. I use one of these : (bagless, but with a paper filter wrapped around the motor unit) https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb431 ... 240v/39587 coupled with : https://www.dm-tools.co.uk/product.php/ ...

    Rip thin strips? (3mmx3mm)

Here is another method (I prefer the one above more though). You'll want to make a zero clearence insert first! ... or just stick a sheet of 3mm MDF over the the top of your saw.

Has anyone tried the 'Bow FeatherPRO Featherboard' ?

I have a few of the plastic ones, but noticed that when placed horizonatlly, these ones also help to stop the board from lifting, meaning you don't also need a vertical featherboard? Are they any good? better than the plastic ones? https://www.axminster.co.uk/bow-feather ... ard-105271

    Cutting HSS

I purchased some of the following HSS square stock and need to cut it down. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HSS-LATHE-TO ... 2749.l2649 I tried with my angle grinder and a metal cutting disc, but after a few minutes, had barely cut 1mm in. I assume I need a specific type of disc? I thought I would...

    Record DS300 Disc Sander

Just picked up one of these, and first impressions aren't great. The right hand side tilting mechanism was completly seized, despite being covered in a load of grease. On further inspection, having taken it apart, the pieces that are supposed to move freely, were jammed togeather (too tight of...

    Shooting Board Technique

I had similar issues. I could plane long grain fine, but shooting end grain was really hard. One thing I noticed was that I was getting streaks on the end grain cuts. Inspecting the blade a little closer and I found that the edge had a very small flat spot where it wasn't sharpened (possibly...

    Domestic Vacuum Cleaners

They move pretty slowly and have rubber wheels. I think the main concern would be getting something sharp trapped under it, and it dragging that around scratching as it goes. I have one (Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac) and they really are great. I was extremey skeptical at first and considered them a...

    Bosch or Erbauer brushless

Erbauer batteries will change (update) far more often than Bosch, so if you want to stick with one brand hoping to share batteries, I would go with Bosch

    Danish oil finishing advice

I haven't used Elm, but every wood is going to be different, and may require more coats than others before the grain stops raising so much between coats. If you have remaining offcuts, you may want to experient with a (very) thinned down sanding sealer before the oil. But be warned, it will...

    Scoring/Marking stainless steel?

Ah yes, not sure why I jumped to stainless steel, but I know they're magnetic as that is how I hang them, so they can't be Stainless steel.
