Unknown spinny tool lathe type thingy??

No idea about metal working, but in wood turning you'd use something like this as a "Jam chuck" type system to hold things using friction. But as it's threaded, I am not sure as it couldn't freely rotate. Edit : When I said Jam chuck, I was actually thinking this piece would go on the tail stock.

Chipped edges on new planes and do new planes need sharpening before use?

As a quick test, try planing the edge of the board rather than the face. Avoid any knots for now, as they can be really really hard in pine. It should be quite easy to get a good finish. If you're still having issues, then there is definately an issue with the blade. Problem with grinding it...

    Axminster Price Hikes

I didn't say 'all'. And I would agree with you, there is definately bargains to be had. But for the most part, people know what they're selling. A good example is the Festool Domino, where the older ones go for pretty much the same price they were purchased at.

    Importance of record keeping

Sure, I would most certainly keep all documents, including a copy of the *** packet drawing. Lets say you hadn't kept a copy. If they've signed off on the new drawings, surely thats all the evidence you need?

    Importance of record keeping

Not to sound arrogant, but isn't this obvious? of course you would keep all documents.

    Axminster Price Hikes

It will also affect second hand prices too. When people go to sell something, they will be setting their price based on the current market price, not what they paid for it.

    Bench top jointer

It really is a crap Jointer. You can't get it flat/level/co-planer and mine got so hot after only a few minutes, you couldn't touch it. So pretty dangerous too. Don't waste your time or money on that Jointer. It's not a jointer I would recommend.

    Axminster Price Hikes

That sucks :( Toolstation used to offer free delivery on orders over £10, and is now £25. And before anyone brings up the "It's not free, it's added onto the product prices" .... yeah yeah.

    Axminster Price Hikes

If I am buying second hand, it needs to be something you can't buy anymore, or at most 60-70% of the new price. I think it's madness that people will spend £400 on a used saw that is £450 new, just to save a few quid and lose out on the warranty. But people do it as they consider it a bargin!

    Any idea - maybe silly

I think most people would call that progress. As long as you believe in the products you're promoting, I don't see the problem. To be fair, RagNBoneBrown still appears to be upcycling with most of his projects, and still appears to be a tight arse (joke) .. so I don't think much has changed. I...

How did you get to those numbers? did you mean £400-£600?

    Lathe Light

Not really. Still very short compared to the picture I posted

    Lathe Light

I have the Charnwood, and as with most lathe lights, I think they're far too short. It's really annoying. I can never quite get it into the position it needs to be in. I'm always on the lookout for something like the ones the Americans have. Like this :

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Sycamore Box with African Blackwood top, finished with Hamshire sheen, fondant potatos and a seafood foam.

    Any idea - maybe silly

I'd say this is good idea. Although nothing really new. 50% of the channels I follow are people learning as they go. RagNBone probably fits into that category.

Are Grippers much safer than push sticks?

That makes sense, although surely even with a half length fence you'd stop and just take it to the bandsaw?

Are Grippers much safer than push sticks?

Sure. So if you have a full length fence and a riving knife, what is the issue switching to a shorter fence is supposed to resolve?
