    Poor man's sliding table

be interesting to see if you actually use the horizontal t track. I think it would be fine with just the vertical tracks, and makes the build a lot easier. You also can't really compare it to a sled as you get support and zero clearance both sides. But it does look very useful to have also...

    Ultex vs Trend Diamond stones

It's a hollow that extends to the cutting edge. Anyway - thats besides the point of this thread.

Yeah, sorry, the back of the chisel. It's a hollow

    Ultex vs Trend Diamond stones

I missed one important point. This is the back chisels.

    Ultex vs Trend Diamond stones

Well - it's obviously quite a difficult thing to describe/measure. All I can say is that I don't notice much of a difference in the amount of material removed when compared to the 1000 grit. Both by looking at the surface generated, as well as the amount of material in the "swarf".

    Ultex vs Trend Diamond stones

Hmm. Maybe I am expecting too much from the 300 stones then. I guess I was expecting them to cut several times quicker than the 1000, but it feels much less than that.

I’ve heard of inflation but this is ridiculous.

Personally, I don't think it's just a case of greedy prices increases, as any business in their right mind would keep the existing prices and get all the customers. Although possibly a mix.

    Ultex vs Trend Diamond stones

I recently purchased a 300g 3x8" Ultex Diamond sharpening stone, hoping to remove a lot of material in a hurry. The results have been quite disappointing though. Not only does it not remove material very quickly, but also produces quite a reflective surface? Not what Id expect? Which leads me...

    Unbelievably efficient service.

And yet other places email you back 3-4 days later to ask for information you already provided in the initial email... at which point the replacement item is now out of stock! ....grrrrrrrr

planer or thicknesser first or planer thicknesser?

Looks pretty good. A lot better construction than the one I mentioned previously.

planer or thicknesser first or planer thicknesser?

I can see how that would work if it was cupped. But not a twist or bow.

planer or thicknesser first or planer thicknesser?

Are people really using the sled method for full projects? (furniture builds) That seems crazy to me. Having to wedge and glue each piece down must make things so much slower.

M6 adjusting/clamping knobs - female with LEFT HAND THREAD - source?

If you can't find one, you can simply epoxy a left threaded M6 nut into a suitably shaped piece of wood. Works great ...or as mentioned 3D printing the shape is a nice solution too.

    Bench top jointer

Thats interesting. Not even on their own website. I like the fact that it appears to be a different design to the others. So hopefully better made and has adjustability. I wonder what the infeed/outfeed tables are made of? ... I'd have hoped aluminium, but they look like maybe pressed steel...

    A British Jointer

A vertical planer makes sense to me. It's easier to hold a board down flat to edge joint than to hold it up against a fence ... but then more difficult to plane the face. I think it would make sense for production work though Having the two mahcines in one does look terribly dangerous though.
