    Stamp box

Thank you Simon, having a surface planer and thicknesser helps as all the wood I get is either rough sawn or from old furniture after checking for metal work it goes through those. I managed to get an engineers box from Chronos when they sold some seconds mine arrived with the smallest of...

    Stamp box

Another present made this time a box to keep some stamps in as well as a place for things like tweezers in the top tray. The lid is held in place by the top tray as I wanted the bottom to be quite shallow to make it easier to get the stamps out of the divisions. Made from an old shelf unit of...

Weekly Discussion Topic - Week 1 - Airbrushing

Like the brush set Simon even colour coded for the paints  Great tip about the hose end covers on the top of the bottles. The problem with wood is it needs to be completely dust free for some mediums to stick to it like the frisk masking would be better if the wood is sealed first a bit...

Weekly Discussion Topic - Week 1 - Airbrushing

I am not saying that the cheaper airbrushes will not do the job but when you get one of the known brand brushes the difference is like chalk and cheese. I have 4 cheaper brushes and the last one is this ONE which is the cheapest of that range. I get most of my stuff from THESE people now...

Another point on painting after masking with an airbrush. When spraying point the brush so that you spray from the masking tape side towards the area to be painted that way you are not spraying towards the tape which can force the paint/stain under it

Weekly Discussion Topic - Week 1 - Airbrushing

As some have seen I use an airbrush in some of my work. At present I own 5 airbrushes ranging from cheap ones up to an expensive one this gives me a selection of brushes to spray various stains and paints. Quite often the dearer ones have the option of being able to buy extra needles and nozzles...

Money for nothing or what a load of bo***cks

My wife likes to watch this program and tonight two blokes made a light from twigs and small branches I looked up to see one of the idiots using a spindle roughing gouge on a bowl type blank. Those that turn will know what I am on about

    Any suggestions?

I would turn the bottom piece first and the the bowl section and treat that piece like a goblet when turning doing the fit for the bottom then the outside leaving a nice thick section where it becomes the neck, Turn the inside to finish and then return to the neck section that way you can also...

Not yet Chas still on the patio but in shade but the ends are sealed at the moment they are stood up as in the photo. Bowl blanks

Paul always seems to have some great offers on if you go to many wood turning suppliers and check their prices his are very competitive. Buying from places like e bay be careful as you do not know the moisture content and once you get them if it is quite high can cause the blanks to split
