Suggestions on how to hold spherical material.....

I would go with MikeG's idea. the only problem is that you would need to keep removing it from the disc/belt and keep it cool as stone and ceramic can produce heat checks which could spoil the item if it is to be left as is. The same if you use an angle grinder. The ideal tool would be a slow...

Shame about the Ivy. Like the yew bowls. If I don't get into the shed for a time I start getting withdrawal symptoms either that or I end up with so many ideas I just don't know where to start

    Ash Bowl

Thought I would have another go at a piece of turning found what appeared to be a plain piece of ash in the woodpile, pleased with what I found inside. Finished with sander sealer and then put on my buffing system, I did add a coat of woodwax22 on top of that.

Whats happend to 100/150 grit abrasive disks?

I only ever use 120, 180 240 320 400 and 600 grit discs and have not had any problems if you wanted to go coarser then there are 80 grit. All of these give just the right amount of a gap between the grits for a good finish. Is there a reason for not changing to those

    Hollow form

There are so many different ways to deal with cracks this is another. The one near the knot is left open the small one near the rim is filled with coffe and CA glue and the big crack is held with two walnut butterflies

    Spinning Through the Wood Pile

I think it would depend on a couple of things one being the hardness of the wood and how easy it cuts and secondly the size of the chisel for me the mallet I made from a bowls ball is ideal for the chisels that I have and for the majority of woods that I use. It also depends on what is...
