Thank you all I would like to make a bigger one with more spirals but at the moment other jobs keep getting in the way.

The spiral is made from one piece of wood with some very careful cutting and then turning involving some very accurate measuring I ended up with this. It is done by making 4 separate pieces from the one which when assembled looks like the grain still lines up

Not a new piece but a repair and reposition of the turned spiral form on the plinth. The spiral is yew and a black ebonising spray inside finished with Acrylis sander sealer and Satin Lacquer and a final polish with wax. The plinth was cut and burnt before adding liming wax and again finished...

That is how I extract dust and shavings out of hollow forms always works for me. The biggest problem is all the u tube videos show people blowing it out, so it must be OK to use a compressor
