    traditional carpenters toolbox

Thank you for that Corneel! When I build my version in the Spring of next year, I shall take great care that mine will hopefully be worthy to stand alongside such a fine traditional example. Gareth

    traditional carpenters toolbox

I am quite like the 'Dutch' tool chest design that has been appearing lately on the web, as I have found the type pictured above a bit small for static storage, and I don't like the hulking great chest types. What I would like to know is the term Dutch used because it is a traditional...

    hats off to Garry(flex)

As I am unfamiliar with this product, will they clean the black staining left behind when the surface rust has been removed and return steel to bright, without wearing away the original surface, I have several steel rules that have discolored over the years?

who cut a work top wrong today

Man who never made a mistake never made a thing - cut the odd Universal Beam short before now, drilled holes in the wrong place, all sorts. Its getting over ****-ups without the Boss spotting it improves your craftsmanship. G

Local farmer burning old sofa, car tyres ...

This just a symptom of the entirely stupid 'green' policies adopted from or forced on us by the EU, and other bodies. It would seem the more toxic the waste to dispose of, and therefore the more desirable it is to dispose of correctly - the harder and more expensive they make it! The chanted...

Which of these 3 Bench Drills?

I am looking at a Chester D19 which has a very good spec, and appears to be the same as an Axminster model ED16B2, but £80.00 less.

Real fire, log fire, no fire...?

We have a small fireplace like that one, and after investigation we could find no log burning stove that would fit, so the real flame fake coal gas fire is going, and a small log grate will give an alternative to the TV to watch, as the CH warms the house, and the workshop keeps creating...

    I hate hacksawing

You can buy a lot of the 1.6mm slitting discs for the 4 1/2" grinderette for the cost of basic drop band-saw. If you want bigger use the 9" grinder thin slitting discs, munched my way through many a universal beam with those.

New sliding mitre saw... where to put it!!

I mounted mine on a moveable table mitre station with fold up wings. Below I keep the cheap B&? item it replaced, and I have a draw under for my circular saw, spare blades, etc, but it is the mobility which is most important, so I can push it out of the way when not in use. I store it with...

    My Last Post Here !!!!

Living on the IOW most items advertised here would be impractical for me to go for, unless small, so I claim partial neutrality. Speaking as a potential BUYER, all I am interested in is, what, how much, and where with some photos so I can decide if I like it. I am not interested in the fact...

    Mystery Tool?

Apparently it is a saw set for those hand opperated chain saws that saw service in both World Wars, and are seen at boot sales everywhere. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FRANCIS-WOOD- ... 27ed7918d9 Gareth
