The Longevity of a Wooden Shed?

Another forum I go to has just a string about WW1 army huts still in use, and there are a surprising number, so 100 years plus is possible.

    A monster.

My Grandfather grew this on his allotment during the 1930's, it made headlines at the time, apparently. I must also add that all marks were natural.

    A monster.

Interesting some of my spuds have been much bigger than normal this year, I think a lot has to do when they were planted, we were late with the early plant this spring, must have hit the weather conditions just right. It will be interesting to see how the main crop do.

    Eclipse No. 60B

I had a new one issued to me from Vosper-Thornycroft stores when I started my training September 1970, lost or had it nicked a few years later, but as you haven't mentioned finding my initials on it I don't think it was mine :(

I want a small dog to suiit my age and situation

My last dog was a Lakeland terrier nice little fellow, very good natured, looked like a teddy bear had the brains of one. We are waiting to get a Wire Fox Terrier next week, slightly smarter than a Lakeland apparently, so training him is going to be fun.

    Belgian Mechanical Hammer

I still occasionally use mine, nice little thing, but the battery drill does have the edge. Bring back furry rawlplugs.

    Narex Planes, Anyone?

'Body in aluminum alloy' - well at least it won't rust.

    New Project

You could tack the weldmesh, but there is a risk people especially children will put their hands around the back and we all know how sharp the cut edges of weldmesh can be. All raw edges and tacks must be sanded down so they offer no risk of cut or graze to fingers that should not be there, but...

    New Project

Is there any cushioning on these seats? As I wouldn't go anywhere near a restaurant that was offering me industrial seating as a choice. I would put the weldmesh to the back of the frame and trap it with a covering flat bar tapped into box by 5mm screws. Also I would have thought weldmesh may...

    Bye bye freeserve/wannado/orange email

I found that I can't copy - paste out of my old address book, so its proving a real p in the a to transfer them all. Not to mention the scrapping of my contact cards, all so EE can concentrate on services I don't use.

    Bye bye freeserve/wannado/orange email

I am going to miss my old fsnet, it also means that a lot of inquiries I get for historical research won't come through now, so I loose a pleasant pass time as well. Wonder how long before the amazing business opportunities and vast legacies from Nigeria catch up with the new one.

    Problem club members

I agree with AJB, matters have been allowed to go on far too long. Financial matters should never have been allowed for non committee members, but I suspect you know that. You may fire a warning shot that unless all group property is returned immediately, both financial and administrative, you...

    Pigs ear handrail

Don't know if its the same for wooden stairs, but for steel fire escapes the handrail top should be a minimum of 900mm vertically above the nose of the tread.

    old nuts and bolts

Unless they are mating up with something, go for the nearest metric size and file the numbers off. Ebay for is good for small quantities of imperial

Any interest in producing laundry tongs on a small scale?

It may not apply to laundry tongs, but there are a lot of people that esteem enhanced value. Remember what happened to Ratner's when Gerald actually told the truth about 80% of the product on offer, his market collapsed because the illusion was shattered. For every one who will only buy an item...

Advice Needed - Batch Cutting 4mm Brass Rod

Could you not find a local fabrication shop to do it for you, multi cuts like this were nipper jobs when I was in full time fabrication and on brass you don't need a TCT blade just a fine tooth HSS one and a good drop cut off saw and stop. Shouldn't take half an hour for 200

    is my workshop haunted?

Ah the workshop tokoloshe always hides the tool I want next, or the item I have been falling over for months on the day I want it. The one I really can't explain that happened to me was this tale. A good friend gave me two quite rare local military cloth badges which for twenty years I kept in...

That's why a mate of mine has three - he did!

    Date this Fleetway Hand Drill?

The main wheel appears to be made out of mazac or something similar, that to me indicates post war construction due to post war shortages and restrictions.

The holy grail of steel rulers

While you are all gloating about your new rules, I quite like my dirt cheap sc***fix set of three, a 6", 1' & a 2'. Very heavily engraved stainless, with handy tables on the back. Ideal for the harsh fabricating environment they are used in and not a disaster if on gets munched.
