Ever get the feeling your being watched?

They are all great and I too would wonder what the hell the last one was until the pooch showed up! The French aren't renouned for their humour, unless you count in the politicians? But there's an abbey not far from here with a really nice pottager, veg garden area. Fenced off and with a sign...

Best way to kill roots - shrubs and woody plants?

Best way to kill roots - shrubs and woody plants?

When we lived in Stroud, before moving here, we had a lot of ground elder in the garden. We tried all sorts to get rid of it until we found out that you can eat it. Just like spinach and just as good for you, so no problem after all 8) 8) I think that you will find that mairs tail is edible...

Best way to kill roots - shrubs and woody plants?

If you use roundup then you had better get it before it's banned? Pig awful stuff and about as good for the earth as an atomic bomb!! They say it becoms inert once it hits the soil but they tell us porkies, it doesn't.

Best way to kill roots - shrubs and woody plants?

I killed off some smal-ish pyrocanther stumps using some vinegar with some salt mixed in it. That worked after several other 'chemicals' didn't. I don't like using big pharma rubbish and that's a natural and effective solution. The other way would be to caver it with some of that membrane that...

    plans for bench etc.

I haven't had time to look at all the links, but I have 3 benches in my workshop here. 2 hard by a wall and one in the middle as an island. All the tops are damaged kitchen worktops. Cheap as chips and solid as a rock. The frames are 4 X 2 bolted together and they have a shelf under them for...

What I want to know is how a supermarket can know that a bottle of water that the contents ahve been around for the last 3 or so billion years is going to go out of date a year next Feb? They realy are smartasses init! If it smells/tastes/looks good, apart from cheap supermarket meats and...

    Draft proofing sliding patio doors.

Well, if it's snow you want here's a view from a few years back It's only -2 with a chill facture of -4 at the mo, but it was -5 and chill -7 this morning!! At our tremendous high altitude of 150m what else can we expect? I'll do what I can see about the rail photo, but don't hold yer breff...

    Draft proofing sliding patio doors.

Our doors are floor to almost ceiling, double glazed and run on a rail at the bottom and there is a slight gap because of the runners and rail, like below. Not easy to get a good photo of now with all the c r a p in place, but if you insist  Not much of a draft, but enough to make...

    Draft proofing sliding patio doors.

How do 'you' draft proof your sliding patio doors? We have a total length of 14.5 metres of sliding doors across the front of our house and if not proofed there's a nice draft comes through the underside of them! Several years back I had a thought (it does happen occasionally?) as to how to...

How long does it take to heat your house?

Our thermal store is 190 sq m of terra catta tiles sat on top of LPG fired wet underfloor heating. We keep the temp at about 20ºC all the time. What's the point of letting it cool overnight to have to be boosted during the day? From switch on, normally mid/late December, it takes about 12 hours...

    Dream Car or Nightmare?

RR may well throw all their toys out of the cot too! And the 'E' is missing from the 'ARS'

Anyone got a bottle of champagne handy?

That looks good, but what is it and what does it do? I'd rather have the stuff the champoo was designed from. Blanquette de Limoux. It's about 1/3rd the price of champoo and unless you get a VERY top job it's better. B de L has a history about 100 + years longer than the expensive stuff, 1530...

    Reality check

Tomorrow? That's the 3rd init? I thought that the 1st was a public holiday? It was here and all are back at work today. Same last week. Krimbel Day Sunday, work Monday and the world say that the French have all the hols? So back to the grind for us today and we've already been to the bank to...

    Hi, From Michigan USA

Heimlaga, I have just noticed your sinnature. I wouldn't worry too much about your translation into English. I have the same problem and I am English, but I have lived here in France for 12 years!! You should see/hear my French   Well, that might not be a good idea :oops...
