    Hi there... I have just turned some wild cherry. The heart wood is a nice yellow/orange...I left the sapwood on for effect....but I think by using oils etc you can darken the effect...pic attached

    Hi there... looks like a good old machine...firstly I would say it’s a treadle driven job.....you can get sewing machine belts fairly cheap on eBay . As to the spindle thread..,remove the spindle and pulley....see if you can get someone on the forums to turn a new one for you...with a 3/4 16...

    Using washing machine motors for workshop machines

    Hi all.... Wondering if anyone has progressed anything using washing machine motors...I’d like to maybe use one for a disc sander and maybe a polisher...I am no electrician but I understand the mechanics...is it possible to use them for these purposes? If anyone has details regarding wiring...

    40 mm 150 diameter grinding wheel

    Thanks for reply....I would have to make up a cover tho...I’ve seen the recessed ones so that would be ok.. I did moot over getting a new grinder...8”... toss up between RP and Axminster...I could then use the rutty one for metal bits...or roughing out. Seeing as I have just picked up a Sorby...

    Record power chuck shortages

    I bought one of those adaptors....m33 to 3/4 16..... I have got the 3” Rutland chuck...if your chuck is wobbly....use some pace tape and then put chuck on. Overhang is no problem...

    Little oak box

    Hi Simon... how goes it... Too cold n garage for turning this week.... had a good find in a skip today...pice of worktop...Iroko...500mm by 560 mm....great for my bandsaw trolley....and a bit leftover....now what can I do with that....it’s 40 mm thick.. Steve
