Had an email back from Ian yesterday, order processed today and blades should be with me soon. Nice to find firms with proper customer service again. Thanks for the input gents.

    Bandsaw TPI help needed

Cheers all for the replies. I have sent Ian at Tuffsaws an email earlier and bough a 10TPI blade from Sawmaster on eBay to tie me over for now. If worse comes to worst I still have the old little Clarke bandsaw tucked up in the attic.

    Bandsaw TPI help needed

Thanks to both of you. I'll order another 6 TPI blade and see if it will cut any better. I actually bought this bandsaw second hand so I have no idea what the current blade has been through. Bob, I use a combination of bandsaw/scroll saw to cut the letters. The tight curves I do on the scroll...

    Bandsaw TPI help needed

I have just upgraded to a Record BS250 from a Clarke CBS190. It feels a lot more robust and height of cut and throat depth are a little bigger which is a bonus. The blade that comes with it is a 1/4 inch blade with 6 TPI. It cuts quite rough. Looking to buy a better blade but they seem to come...

Dust extraction on handheld router advice?

Inspired by the new dovetail jig on the Axi website (https://www.axminster.co.uk/ujk-technol ... jig-506300) I have now sorted my extraction dilemma. My jig doesn't allow for a dust bit to be mounted to it so I've mounted the attachment to the router itself. My Fox F50-800 dust extractor came...

Makita compound mitre saw intermittent electric brake.

Little update. The saw has been misbehaving quite badly over the last few weeks. Only learned today the the intermittent cutout is caused by a break in the power cord as when I twist it it works fine. I might just order a new power cord rather than sending it back under warranty and having to...

Scheppach Spare Motor £374 and two months to deliver!

NMA quoted me £128.00 for an on/off switch on my Scheppach table saw. I think that might well have been my last purchase of the Scheppach brand.

What's your favourite and least favourite part of woodwork?

Sanding, I just hate sanding! Most liked bit is cutting on the table saw or routing on the router table oddly enough.

    Dust Extractors

Mine has about a metre of 100mm hose which connects to the cyclone via 63mm in and out and then 63mm to the table saw. Good enough for the one tool. The Fox 842 is in a different league though. Not for fine dust though. I'd recommend one of these Bob, https://www.poolewood.co.uk/product/fox...

    Dust Extractors

Bob, My first dust/chip collector was the SIP. Great suction as you said. This was my only extractor and was used on all my tools from router table to orbital sanders the lot. I still blame this thing on my Tinitus :P I then bought a Clarke CDE35B (I think it's the same as your Axi) to...

    Dust Extractors

James, Have a read through this thread: a-guide-to-dust-extraction-by-member-siggy-7-t102025.html It explains all very well. Basically one sucks up chips etc very well and the other collects dust very well. I have 2 'dust' collectors and 2 'chip' collectors and that's all I need for now...

    Dust Extractors

I've had the SIP one Bob linked to. Very loud indeed. Mine died after about 5 years (thank god) Now replaced with a Fox F50-800. Much quieter and very good filtration. 30L but type L not M. Also have the Fox F50-842 as Mike above said. This is a high volume extractor with 160L capacity. Not...

That time of the year again!

They are quite good. Costly though as you said. I have one in my shed and it has been on full from between 6 and 8 every night. Temps seem to drop dramatically after 5.

    Fox F50-842 2hp dust extractor

I know the NVR switches are there for a reason but I have replaced the switch with a standard switch on both HV extractors. They're available on the bay for less than a fiver and are a straight fit. I use a dual channel remote control to control both extractors from one remote. The remote is...
