    Your right there Lurker. I had very little money for tools when I was eighteen but still managed to turn out some very impressive jobs. Now I have a workshop full of the best of tools but often lack the motivation to do work. :roll: Enthusiasm is worth more than any tool (hammer)

    Wont make any difference to the plane at all, purely cosmetic although the blade needs grinding and sharpening. If your not feeling competent to do it send it to me and Ill sort it out for you

    I would have thought 4" butts with bearings would easily carry the weight of those doors providing there's no excessively wide ones. They are usually used on heavy external doors so should be fine. Sounds a very straight-forward job so why not give him what he wants. The only thing Id watch out...

    Thanks for that Chris, I've seen one of those in action being used to make spokes for carriage wheels but couldn't remember what they were called About as common as hens teeth to find though :(

    A normal copy lathe will only produce round turnings , so ok for baseball bats but no good for cricket bats

    It was four of them Rod. Two welded together for the ground floor and another two on top for the first floor. Excellent result as well
