Ashley Iles Butt Chisels - Quality Issue?

As far as I'm aware Henry Taylor still make bench chisels

Laguna tools, new to UK market

I've moved a Wadkin RS lathe which must weigh the best part of 3/4 ton on my own using hardwood rollers

Ashley Iles Butt Chisels - Quality Issue?

To call them rubbish because the edge is marginally off square is ridiculous, I would expect to prepare the end of any chisel I bought to my preference, unless it was one of of those £100 Blue Spruce ones, and I'd want that to do the chiselling itself

    Wadkin RS restoration

I saw that Greg had that up for sale, must have cost a bit to get it delivered from his place

Do things have to be millilitre perfect?

There's nothing modern about "shaker style" panelled doors have been in common use for hundreds of years

Cutting Joinery Bench Legs To Length On Table saw

If your blade is decent it should go through that like a hot knife through butter. No need to complicate a simple task, just get it done

    Kitchen Fronts/Cabinet Fronts

That can't be said strongly enough Jon. I regularly use tropical hardwoods and the dust is horrible especially Iroko

Sagging drawer unit made from MDF

A length of angle iron screwed to the centre partition and to the wall would sort it, once you manage to get it back in line. It will need to be a reasonable size though, so that the screws don't end up too close to the back edge and pull away

    Block plane vs shoulder plane

The same could be said of a lot of tools, I've seen a sharp axe accomplish all sorts in the right hands, it doesn't mean they don't have a purpose though

    pencil sharpener

One of the great inventions. I had a Costco battery one for around twelve years only replacing it with a new Costco one when I broke it

Genuine skill on display here - repairing a wood coach wheel

Dave Engels is very entertaining, and knowledgeable. A lot of his stuff is peculiar to America though. Sarven hubs are an American invention and not very common over here, although you do get the odd set to repair. That type of tyre with the wire through isn't used here, our rubber has a T...

    Hold downs and augers

I've also got two of the larger and one of the smaller veritas hold downs and can vouch for their usefulness. I bought mine years ago when they weren't as expensive, but they're certainly worth getting.

    Kitchen Fronts/Cabinet Fronts

Poplar or Tulip as its otherwise known would be a decent choice, its relatively cheap easy to work and finishes very smooth and good for paint finishes. The only downside is its quite easily dented, so Beech would be a more durable, although more expensive alternative, or Ash if you want the...

    Axminster Tools

Can't rate their customer service highly enough. I've had a couple of deliveries lately and the service has been exemplary. I somehow ordered two of everything on the last order, so phoned them yesterday morning and it was amended straight away with no hassle. Got a text last night to say it...
