Setting up for high power 230v machines, 20amp

No worries, it is 6-7 months from when I placed my order, which was a couple of months ago. Have sought a more firm date but haven't got one yet.

Setting up for high power 230v machines, 20amp

Thanks all. I think consulting an electrician is the way forward, however, trying to get one that is reasonably priced (even in these times) is in itself a challenge. If that is the case, then I will do my research and gauge up on the side of caution. The MCB box in the shed was installed by an...

Setting up for high power 230v machines, 20amp

Hi all I have a couple of Hammer machines on the way, N4400 and the A3-31 P/T. I guess the positives of a long lead time are time to find the $balance , and to setup the shed. In terms of getting an electrician in and what to request, I assume I need 2.5mm twin & earth to handle the current...

Correct Use of Planer/T and Bandsaw - Sefton ?

Got Peter Sefton's P/T Setup video. I like it. A no nonsense direct approach.

Correct Use of Planer/T and Bandsaw - Sefton ?

I actually have Steve's DVDs on the table saw, and a couple I think covered the bandsaw. but I don't think he covers the planer / thicknessser and from what I recall there was a lot of footage on cutting joints with the bandsaw but not too much beyond this. Great videos though!

Correct Use of Planer/T and Bandsaw - Sefton ?

Hi all I have never owned a P/T before and have one on order. I have had previously owned a bandsaw, which i have sold on, but I have another on order. I am just a hobby woodworker, and have never done a project for anyone else, although I do take the hobby seriously so would like to exploit...

Is a better HVLP gun worth it (Apollo Turbine, HVLP)?

Another query, perhaps someone might have some experience with the Apollo 1500 and moved onto a better setup entirely (perhaps Fuji 4 or 5 stage) ? Is it a law of diminishing returns when upgrading beyond this point in terms of HVLP Turbines?

Is a better HVLP gun worth it (Apollo Turbine, HVLP)?

Hi All I have an Apollo HVLP 3 stage Turbine (Spraymaster 1500). I have the ANB300 gun, which is now knackered (just about cheaper to buy another ANB300 than ordering the separate parts it needs). It was already in poor shape when I bought the unit a while back. I see that there is a 7700 Gun...

Drill Stand + Milling Motor = Drill Press + Overhead Router?

Hi All Due to space issues I can no longer accommodate a drill press, and even if I could, I would need to move it about quite a bit which isn't really desirable for me. I wonder if a milling motor/spindle (such as the Mafell FM1000) plus a reasonable quality drill stand (something from...

    Your most used tools

If Les Dennis was asking the question then I think previous posters have covered most of the Top 10. Obvious answers aside, my most used tools are my table saw and my router. I try avoid handtools, I simply don't have the skill or talent to use them but have a lot of respect for those who can.

    Thinking of Planer thicknesser purchase

thanks to all. Have made the decision to go with the Hammer A3-31. Now that I am/will be skint, I will be trying to reclaim timber to use on the machine! Perhaps searching Gumtree etc for solid wood kitchen tables would be a good place to source good hardwood?

    Thinking of Planer thicknesser purchase

Thanks Roger. Looks like fence removal isnt required for thicknessing ops.

    Thinking of Planer thicknesser purchase

Thanks Roger. I wonder if there is a different arrangement for the A3-31 versus the combo machine in your case. Researching the fence issue on the web does throw up some issues, however, people state that it in the main, doesn't affect accuracy.

    Thinking of Planer thicknesser purchase

Unfortunately I am in Ireland. Very small market for used woodworking machinery. I like the idea of buying new , more generally. Although comment from Trevannion and RogerS has me second guessing the Hammer. Is there anything specific on the Hammer that might impact decision in my case?

    Thinking of Planer thicknesser purchase

thanks all. To answer the queries on budget; I am strongly considering a Hammer A3-31 (Hammer-Felder-Format 4 is hobby/pro/industrial right? :) :) ) It is still a lot of money to shell out for someone who doesn't generate any revenue from the work. I want to be really sure that it will take my...

    Thinking of Planer thicknesser purchase

To be straight out with it, I am a beginner /novice that has more ambition than anything. I really want to know how best to use a P/T and in what applications? I know the P/T basics such as rough lumber transforming into dimensioned lumber to suit the application. But my question is more...

    Thinking of Planer thicknesser purchase

Hi all Up to now I have worked mainly on sheet goods, and although I have been at this for several years now it's only a hobby and I am still a beginner. That said it's an immensely enjoyable and therapeutic hobby at that. Looking to expand more into projects involving solid timber and...

Any-one ever import rough sawn lumber?

I'm sure I'm not the only one tired of high price rough sawn lumber here in UK (and Ireland). Has anyone managed to source cheaper hardwoods from mainland Europe, and who would deliver it to private non commercial woodworker?

Anybody mil their own lumber from logs using their bandsaw?

I can get my hands on a lot of poplar, roughly 10 to 12" diameter. I am assuming that poplar should be light enough to manage

Anybody mil their own lumber from logs using their bandsaw?

Does anyone saws their own planks from logs using a bandsaw? Even occasionally? Wondering if you have much success with it?
