    Air Nailers

Well DandM Tools state the Makita is out of stock until Feb, and with more happy customers for the Bostitch I think thats the way I'll go now. Many thanks for all the replies Mark

    Air Nailers

It's probably between the Bostich, Axi and the Makita which are all about the same price. Sounds like a few of you like the Bostich, I was actually leaning towards the Makita. Just wanted to check I am not tied to a brad supplier, who can then charge me what they want and add a bunch of...

Or more precisely 18g Brad Nailers Quick Q I'm trying to decide which brand to buy. Do all the brands take other manufacturers brads, or do you have to by the manufacturers own brads? Mark

    mixing concrete

A bulk bag of balast (that you are refering to as a ton bag) contains 0.6 m3 of the stuff. You need 4 bags of cement per bulk bag. Mark

    Compressor terminology and advice

Hi I wasn't planning on covering it as such, just building it into the bottom of a shelving/cupboard unit, as that style is better shaped for this. The noise I'm also not that concerned about, we have one at work for running an aircraft engine wash rig, and I can't believe any are louder than...

    Compressor terminology and advice

I think I have decided to have a seperate HVLP sprayer/turbine at some point in the future. So with that in mind a compressor suitable for a nailer only in the first instance is what I need.(Can't think of anything else other than a blower I might want to run off it) The Bambi that...

    Compressor terminology and advice

Thanks for that. As I said at the start I know nothing about compressors so what is the difference between the pressure switch and regulator? I don't really understand what you are describing, and therefore what I should be looking for :? Mark

Unfortunately still too expensive, £315 in Axi catalogue. Looking up to £200, could be pushed for slightly more, but now bearing in mind I will want to buy a HVLP sprayer in future. Mark

    Compressor terminology and advice

Pete, I've just had a quick look in the Axi catalogue and thats too expensive for me I'm afraid. It doesn't seem to have much "power" either, is that all thats required for a nail gun, blower etc??? Mark

    Compressor terminology and advice

Thanks for the replies If I decide to go down the HVLP line for spraying (which does sound more efficient), I still want a compressor to run a nail gun etc. In that case what "size" should I be looking for in terms of tank size, HP, and do I now need to worry about free air delivery CFM (if I...

    Compressor terminology and advice

I have to admit I know nothing about compressors. I have searched the forum already but the posts I've found have been a bit over my head. In the first instance I want to use an air nailer/brads, probably 18 gauge. I want to in the future be able to do a moderate amount of spraying which I...

    Shed Build WIP

Passed Mike's scrutiny, more or less, blimey thats a relief (Mike I do think you should write a "sticky" for the forum - how to build a timber workshop) Thanks for all the other complimentary remarks. I am hoping it will last a lifetime with a bit of TLC in the future. Mark

Forgot to say, the window is a cheap double glazed panel with some of that frosting film on it so no one can see in. Bars across the inside as well. Mark

And thats it, all finished. Well more or less, just needs a bit of guttering and a water butt for watering the veg patch that is now in front of it. Just need to transfer everything across from the workshop and sort that out. Oh and that ropey looking 4 foot fence in front is now down, it was...

The inside got a coat of white paint. Roof finished. Started to get some insulation in the outside walls. Mixture of celotex and polystyrene. What ever I could find laying around really, wanting to spend as little as possible. I decided not to bother with a breather membrane or a vapour...

The photos seem slightly too wide and I am having to scroll left and right sligtly. How do I get them to fit the width? Carrying on, the roof was boarded, no surprises for guessing with second hand 18mm ply. My home made door was also hung. Then I started on the roof covering. I used...
