    Wasp nests

Hi I think I have one, I've got a steady stream of wasps disappearing under the eaves of the house. Will have a (careful) closer look later. Will councils get rid of these free or do I need to employ a rentokil type company / independent pest controller? Mark

Touch wood, but i think I've sorted this. Quick swipe down each blade with a diamond card seems to have done the trick. So I guess it was a tiny burr sticking up that I couldn't see. And no snipe now either. :D Thanks especially to Bob. Going to make something now Mark

Steve Do you get any sag from the bearers ? Are they angled upwards at all? Mark

New kitchen WIP (AKA I need a bigger workshop!)

Mike Looks superb so far. What do you intend to finish the inside with to make it durable and able to wipe it clean? Mark

Thanks Bob Have a magnifier at work, will get it tomorrow and look on Friday. I have ordered a couple of those credit card diamond stones, if I find anything I may carefully run one over the blade insitu. Chems to answer you Q it was solid pine, no glue. I'm ashamed to say it was a bit of...

Hopefully Bob is around tonight I have offset two of the blades now, one one way and one the other. The scratches are still there but have moved in the same direction and are still the same distance apart. I think that tells me one knife is causing both? Having looked closer I cant tell if...

Bob, not sure how I would have nicked all 3, only had clean sort pine over it so far, but your knowledge is definitely greater than mine. Will move one tommorow evening, as I've packed up for the evening now and report back. By the way has "cutting solutions" got a website / contact details...

Chems Motivation was all cast iron, especially fence, long beds (longer than planner thicknesser in any case), axminsters back up/reputation (maybe should be using that now), never wanting to upgrade in the future, a bit of a bonus burning a hole in my pocket. Basically pushed myself and bought...

Bob you must be the only one reading this thread!!! I used a piece of wood to push the knife against the springs onto the height setting screws while tightening, I've obviously caught it at this point :( I am aware of the offset trick but with 3 knives I would presumably need to move 2 out 3...

    Assembling jet 60A planer

Just when I thought I had this sorted, another problem. I am getting two very light "scratches" about 8mm apart as I plane. Can't believe I didn't notice them before but that was the crappy pine I was using. So i've inspected the blades to see if I nicked them as I set it up. Nothing seen in...

    Sun Loungers

I'd keep it simple and go for no1 The curved one doesn't actually look comfortable. You'ld have to sit fairly upright all the time and couldn't lay on your side, not with your back anyway Mark

I've also run a few more cuts and to be honest it is barely noticable now. I am happy to live with it until I get to know the machine a bit better. I don't think anyone but me will notice it. Incidently my test cuts were in fairly thin pine, maybe thats not the best thing to use? Oh and those...

Right, just had another go. I have set them so the piece of wood is not moved at all, but, I can hear the knife making contact with the wood as I rotate the cutter block. That for me is about as close to top dead centre as I will get them. Ran the next test piece. The snipe has reduced a lot...

    Assembling jet 60A planer

I've just spent the last couple of hours trying to set the blades in the cutter block. Finally done it, ran a test piece and getting snipe on the back end. I set them so that rotating the block moved a piece of wood 3mm. To me the fact there is snipe at the back end would suggest the blades...

Just been to put the plug on and found that the cable is only about 1 metre long - what a joke. So where can I buy a 16 amp extension cable (which to be fair would be useful anyway), needs to bee about 5 or 6 metres long. Alternatively would I be better making my own up. Presumably I can get...

Will this run on a 13 amp plug or does it need to be 16 amp. Have both sockets so no probs either way. Can't find the answer in the manual. Mark

Think I will try Bob's method first, as I don't need anything special for that. Martin, if I need to do as you suggested where do I get such screw in eyes and what size are they? Thanks to both of you Mark
