Which Planer/ Thicknesser £650-£1000 mark (ish)

If you have the space, someone was selling a Jet60a on here a few weeks ago for about £450. Add a seperate thicknesser and you'll have a great combo. Mark

Are you going to Axminster soon? Can you do me a favour?

Jason Thanks for that, I had looked at Wealden and could only see the Template Profilers which are expensive. I've looked again and found the trimmers though the cheapest 12.7mm diameter one I can see is £12.10. (I don't actually mind paying a bit more for a better quality bit, its the...

Are you going to Axminster soon? Can you do me a favour?

Hi I need to get a cheap router bit from axminster for a project I'm doing. Trouble is I live no where near a store, the bit is less than £10 and I don't need anything else. Needless to say I don't want to spend £5 on P+P. If I sent the cash and a bit for an envelope and stamp would anyone be...

    Woodworking magazines

I just want to make it clear that the comments I have made refer to the current issue of BWW only. I am generally a happy reader, and would have no hestitation in recommending it to anyone. I genuinely wish Nick all the best in making it a continued success. Mark

    Woodworking magazines

I've just had a email this evening from Nick Gibbs asking for feedback on this months BWW. Coincidence?. I have tried to be constructive as well as point out the shortcomings in my reply as I do want a mag like his to succeed Mark

    Woodworking magazines

Not only did BWW have its 6 pages on what pencil people use this month, what got my back up was Steve Maskerys article on making wooden cam clamps. About 10 issues previously we had Olly making, you guessed it, wooden cam clamps. And to top it off they were "to an original design by Steve...

    Rockler Router Table Plates

Mmmm Having tried to measure it myself (surprisingly difficult), I thought it was more like 3/8". I think 1/2" might be too big a radius :?: I don't think that link is that clear. Are those bits 1/2" diameter which would be a more usual way of quoting the dimentions, or 1/2" radius as you...

    Celotex insulation under concrete?

Standard foil backed celotex is suitable for having a concrete slab poured over it. I have it under my workshop slab and my kitchen extension slab. I am not sure what you are describing but if the core is standard celotex I would be happy to use it Mark

    Hammer pillar drill

The Hammer looks exactly the same as my Draper (with the exception of a different shaped table), and I do mean exactly! I would expect they are made in the same factory in the far east. I am happy with mine, it weighs 70 kg and is no lightweight, no discernable play. Mark

    Mallet needed - advice please

I quite fancy making my own mallet. This might seem like a dumb Q, but should the wood for the head of the mallet by softer than the handles of the chisels. Just concerned about damaging the handles (which i realise will happen anyway if hit hard enough with anything). Mark

Router bit to trim laminate flush

Paul, what are these times you talk of when people did not have routers? Gary, yeah thats what I've got, different brands, just wanted to check I didn't need anything special for cutting laminate instead of wood. As I said, I'm a bit concerned how brittle it seems. Mark

Router bit to trim laminate flush

Hi Just up to the stage of laminating the top of my router table. The top is 36mm thick MDF with an oak lipping all round. I need to contact adhesive the thin (0.5mm?) white laminate to both sides and then trim this flush with a bearing guided straight cutter. Question is, will any straight...

Tips needed for fitting flooring in house.

Mark I also have solid pine floor boards without tongues/grooves. I lifted the whole lot to reveal the joists and the earth below. Then put 75mm Celotex between the joists. This does 2 jobs, insulates the floor from the ground and if well fitting stops the drafts. Then put the original...

Confused over different kitchen hinge types

Gav For someone who struggled with finding the right hinge, thats a bit hard to understand I'm afraid. I think p86 is the correct page. From what I can see for the door, the centre of my 35mm hole needs to be 20.5 to 23.5 mm from the edge??? so probably 22mm?? Can't really understand how far...
