Does the cold effect fridge freezers?

Well I finally got to check the fridge freezer. It is a single compressor. I can't find the model number, but its a Bosch and I doubt is anything fancy to be working down to very low temps. So I'm trying to understand my options. If I keep it on, I risk both fridge and freezer going off. Is...

Does the cold effect fridge freezers?

Thanks all, Looks like I need to look up what I've got, I'll do that tomorrow as I've locked up for the night now. Though bugbear your link suggests whatever model I have it won't be designed to operate below 10 degrees? Trouble is I don't fancy a fridge freezer in my hallway. Although the...

Does the cold effect fridge freezers?

Another Q as a result of my recent house move. The new place has an integrated fridge freezer. I've still got my old one as it is bigger than the integrated one. Its plugged in in the garage and we have stuff in it. Visiting a friend last week they told me they put one in their garage...

    Wood burning stove

Guys I really appreciate all your thoughts and experiences. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks me and the mrs will be off work the same day and we can visit a couple of stove showroom places for their take as well. Hopefully I'm armed with a bit more info now to question and challenge them...

    Wood burning stove

Phil with regard to cwi I have read you shouldn't install it if you suffer from wind driven rain. My new place is at 400 ft so quite high therefore I need to be careful. I am fairly sheltered by the hill behind and trees but in the 6 weeks I've been here I'm not sure if this is an issue for me Mark

    Wood burning stove

I've had a quick look at the green living forum and it looks very good. In fact I also have questions on cavity wall insulation and off grid boilers (new house is oil with 30 year old boiler, wood stove is part of that renovation) that I think it will be very useful for too. Thanks for the...

    Wood burning stove

Guys Been out all day and just seen all the replies, thanks to everyone whos taken the time. I need to read through properly rather than the scan I just did. In the meantime, can anyone point me in the right direction for the regs re where it can be sited, size of hearth etc. The room is a...

    Wood burning stove

I'm sure several of you have these, I've never had or used one before, but am intending to get one. I have a slight problem in that the room I intend to put it, I also intend to extend in a couple of years. So I think I will need to make sure the output is right for the extended room. I'm...

    NVR Switch Wiring Help

    Economy 7

My heating is oil, my economy 7 meter is nothing to do with my heating. I have inherited a strange set up from the previous occupier though as I need to mainly use elec for hot water. So if I heat it prior to 7.30 I get economy 7 rates. Any other elec I use overnight is also much cheaper. As a...

Can't help Phil but I've just moved into a house with an economy 7 meter so am also interested to hear any experiences, good or bad. Mark

    drilling big holes

I'd cut the template (or even the hole itself) with a small circle router jig, much easier to get a perfect circle first time. If you havent got one, i'm talking something like in this thread http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/ ... 44-project Mark

    Electric supply to garage

To prevent your machines tripping on start up I believe you need to change the type of breaker, not the rating. If I remember correctly from a B to a C, but I'm not an electrician so please check which type you need with an expert. Mark

    Shelf pins

Anyone know where to get shelf pins like these. I bought a lovely yew veneered sideboard from ebay. Unfortunately one of these is missing. Just need the looped pin not the bit that forms the hole. I know I can stick a bit of dowel in the hole but would like to do it properly Thanks Mark

    Howdens kitchen/built in dishwasher

So I did get round to doing this. The door came off easy enough once i'd found the right screws and handle was easy to fix. As for the whole thing moving in the hole, that was more of a bodge without proper fixing kit, but I'll see how it fares. Thanks for he input. Mark

    Gluing up question

PVA would be fine (assume they are going indoors). What ever you use dont try and glue them all at once. Maybe do 5, then another 5 etc. When dry then glue these together. You'll find they want to slide about as you clamp so be careful to keep them flat as you tighten the clamps. Mark

    Howdens kitchen/built in dishwasher

Thanks Bob I'll try looking for marks on the screws. With regard to the fixing kit I meant to fix the dishwasher in the hole and stop it moving rather than the door fixing kit. Would that have come with the dishwasher as well or can they be bought after? Any idea? mark

    Howdens kitchen/built in dishwasher

Thanks both The top is bog standard laminate so no prob screwing to that if need be. There are about a dozen screws through the actual door and possibly into the wooden door, would this many be usual or is it likely only some go all the way through? I'll double check the model number tomorrow...
