    Which 2kg SDS drill?

The basic model 2KG DeWalt has done me a good 8 years service and no signs of stopping. Definitely agree with the advice to get one with rotational stop so you can use it for chiselling masonry as well. Ed

    2009 Handtool Secret Santa

Its that time again folks. On the basis of the uptake and success of last years event I presume people are going to want to do it again. For those new to the forum, the idea is that you enter your name into the random draw and everyone is allocated the name of another entrant. You send a...

    Small Roubo Workbench WIP [Completed]

You're probably right, but why would you ever take it off Olly? I've used a wonder dog for years and never felt the need to dismantle it... Ed

    Small Roubo Workbench WIP [Completed]

Excellent work Boz. I have been meaning to make a new bench for years now, but the size of the task means it seems to keep drifting into the distance. I am keen on the Roubo style bench when I do get round to it. Ed

    Dutchmen in the kitchen

Yes the roast chicken was perfect. I did have glasses on at the start, but somewhere along the way I must have taken them off and forgot to put them back on. Ed

    Dutchmen in the kitchen

Less than you might think, bit it seemed to foam up an awful lot for some reason. I don't know if it foams more if the moisture content of the timber is higher? Ed

    Decent book on hand planes?

I understand Chris Schwartz's new book is good, although I've not seen it Ed

    Dutchmen in the kitchen

Well I made this one, but Trend do make a kit where I nicked the idea from, which you can buy here; http://www.dm-tools.co.uk/product.php/s ... TEMPTRKX14 I used the 30mm template guide that came with my DeWalt router and turned a 50mm acetal bush on the lathe, to suit the 10mm cutter I used...

    Dutchmen in the kitchen

A ha, the photo omits this piece of Heath Robinson ingenuity... I used some lengths of 3X2 up to the ceiling and then used the quick grip clamps in 'spreader' mode to jack against the worktop. It was surprisingly effective and something I have called into use many times during the house...

    Dutchmen in the kitchen

No its not Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Rembrandt or Eddie Van Halen; a dutchman (as you all know) is also a timber patch to cover a defect. In our much used kitchen (installed by the previous owners of the house) the worktop had been varnished, which has trapped moisture and led to some small areas...

    Decking Project - finished

Looks good. I'd be interested to see how the Ipe decking weathers - I've always used softwood due to cost / availability but I'm sure hardwood is a better proposition. Ed

    Bosch 10.8V Li Scredriver/Drill/Impact drivers

Other thing I should have said is that I didn't realise how useful an impact driver would be until I had one. Ed
