    Walker Turner Bandsaw- Help!

This article from David Charlesworth may help, as it tackles similar issues to those you are facing; http://www.popularwoodworking.com/artic ... _Band_Saw/ Hope that helps, Ed.

    Tom's Tool Chest - Finished!

I presume you plan on drawers going in those gaps, in which case by the time you allow for an inset groove in the drawer sides and then the drawer bottom you're going to be left with about 1/2" useable space? Seems a bit tight to me I am loving the veneer work on the panels - the finished...

Waka - I was confused by that post, but after a second read I realise you must have typed your comment in the middle of the quote from me. It was Karl who volunteered last year, but he has said in this thread that he is happy for you to do it, so unless there is any dissent by tomorrow you can...

    Official Secret Santa Picture Thread

No I didn't make one for myself, I probably should have done because I doubt if I'll ever get round to going through all the steps again...maybe one day. I bought 3 Hock blades from the US about 2 years ago and never did anything with them. I sold one, gave one to Tony and have one left, so that...

Very interesting Pedder. Just had a read through your blog and the explanation of the process is enlightening. I'm now contemplating having a go at it. How difficult is it to cut the spring steel? Ed

    WIP - Small Bullnose Plane

Although I've never done it, most of what I've read seems to suggest peining looks like a disaster until you start filing, so I think you're OK there. Any chance of a bigger pic of the finished plane? Ed

Fine with me Waka. I seem to recall a couple of other people expressing an interest in taking over at the end of last years proceedings. Not quite sure how we agree who it will be, wether we go first come first served (in which case its Waka) or if people want some other mechanism to decide...

I agree the standard and overall number of participants has been excellent this year. I am retiring as organiser now, so if someone wants to step forward to take it on for next year then please shout up. Cheers, Ed

    Tenon Saws

Having just read a post on the Eccentric Toolworks blog he says he has stopped taking orders. He has 18 months backlog and is re-evaluating how he plans to do things when orders reopen! Not sure anyone will be buying one of his saws for a while. Ed

Pedder - that looks like a beautiful saw - is it made from scratch or a kit? Ed

    Tenon Saws

Alf - you're quite right I should have asked in Hand Tools, don't know why I didn't. On the subject of old steel, I would be more than happy with an old saw I just don't have the time, or the right sellers around here to find a good one. Ebay seems a bit of a lottery on this type of thing. The...

I did leave some wafer thin shavings in the throat when I packaged it just to show Tony what it will do, so it does definitely work, but he obviously took those out for the photo. 50 degree bed angle and Mr. Hocks steel should cope with most day to day planing. Cheers, Ed

It is indeed Goncalo Alves - good observation Tony. Tom - yes the metalwork is all me, except the blade. Just indulge me for a moment with a couple of extra pics; Glad you like it Tony. All the best, Ed

    Tenon Saws

I think I may buy a large-ish tenon saw and wonder if anyone has experience-based recommendations they can pass on. I already have a LN carcase saw which currently fills this role, but I think I want something in 14" or 16" length. Currently considering the Pax 14" from Matthew, the LN 16"...

    A Trio Of Clocks

They look good Tom. For shellac I use my old work shirts (poly cotton I think) as the outer of the rubber as they are lint free having been washed many times. Inside the rubber I use a bit of T shirt fabric to act as the wadding. I find this a successful method. Size wise I make a rubber that...
