Welcome to the forum. The cut you want to make is entirely possible with the right machine. A small hobby bandsaw will not do it, but a mid size saw will be fine. Exactly which model is difficult to say; I know my Scheppach Basato 3 wouldn't have done it, but my Axminster AP5300 would eat that...

For sale is my Kity 419 tablesaw. This is 8 years old, so is a made in France model from prior to Kity going out of business. This is the saw that the Axminster TS200 copied, and is generally thought to be of far better quality. The saw has a cast alloy table, 200mm blade and sliding table...

It might be quicker, they are in stock. I was mainly going on how long it took when I ordered my bandsaw, but then that was during the last 10% deal so they were maybe busy. I'll report on the sliding table as soon as I can, although it appears slightly different (maybe only cosmetically) than...

Well lets not worry about that, even if its identical to the SIP its still a good saw and will fit my needs. If its better than the SIP then great - either way its not worth arguing about. Ed

Sunday morning seemed as good a time as any to place an order, so I did! Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll be the owner of a new saw. :D The Kity 419 will be appearing in a for sale thread later once I've taken some photos. Ed

Yes I can see that a purchase like that would be a good position to ask for discount...good for you. I imagine that the saw on its own would not have swung it though. Ed

I enjoyed the programme and think its good that woodworking of any sort is on mainstream TV. It is slightly frustrating however, that whenever the mainstream media does cover any wood crafts its always portrayed in this hair-shirted artisan style. I for one don't really see myself in that way...

I'd expect to pay £200 a day plus materials. That only helps if you can estimate the number of days work it is though... Ed

It is, its called a Reflectorless Total Station, or EDM. Its a piece of surveying equipment that will cost about £5000 - not really appropriate for setting the blade angle on a tablesaw though. Much as I like the idea of a matchbox sized device that fires a beam around the room and determines...

Looks great Why do you have a timber wedge and a lever cap? If you got rid of the timber the lever cap screw would not be too long surely? Ed

Nothing wrong with the Kity, its a brilliant little saw. I'm just ready for more power and capacity I think. Ed

Doubtful in my view, but given thats it otherwise useless you may as well give it a go. I would miss out the wetting it bit and just load it up with weight on a flat surface and see what happens. Ed
