Air source Heat Pumps any good?

From the data badge you read the input power and the output power. Those figures will give the efficiency that the manufacturers designed the boiler to work at. You will find that it is nowhere near the combustion efficiency of 86% which, as I have said, is not the same as the output...

New upvc patio sliding doors condensation on plastic not glass

The (assumed internal) humidity figure of 75% is quite high which may be compounding the problem. Without knowing far more details of the property construction, age & location together with occupancy including domestic use habits it is rather difficult to advise. However, I did find this...

Air source Heat Pumps any good?

With respect the analyser is showing the efficiency of combustion not the efficiency of heat transfer from the boiler to the heating system or from the heating system to the property both of which will be considerably lower.

What ideas have you had for reducing Electricity consumption

When our lot were at home I just turned off the shower pump. Left just enough water to rinse themselves off! 😈

New upvc patio sliding doors condensation on plastic not glass

Perhaps the frames are warped and a good seal is not being achieved. Have you tried putting a straight edge on both elements to check this? Maybe shining a bright light through the joint when closed will reveal weaknesses in the seals.

Will smart meters be used for the rolling blackouts?

One assumes you will get paid for feeding back from your car into the grid. Whether this payment would be in parity with what you pay to charge is another matter!

    Damp on old chimney breast

Might be worth a pop up into the roof space during heavy rain with a big torch to make sure the tiles that were fitted over the hole left by the removal of the external section of the chimney aren't letting water through and running down inside the stack. Or maybe the external pointing on the...

Will smart meters be used for the rolling blackouts?

I would imagine that rolling power cuts will play havoc with all those EVs not being charged and ready for use in the morning!

    Damp on old chimney breast

Has the top of the fireplace opening been sealed up? If so then perhaps a small grille inserted to allow a flow of warm air to waft up the ex-chimney may help. Also is the chimney internal or on an outside wall?

    Damp on old chimney breast

What happened to the fireplace that the chimney used to serve?

Will smart meters be used for the rolling blackouts?

Ever since their inception I have never considered Smart Meters beneficial to the consumer other than having a nice little indoor display to look at.

Any electric oven experts in here?

I think you will find that The Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998 state: "No person shall carry out any work in relation to a gas fitting or gas storage vessel unless they are competent to do so." Part B, 3.1 refers. The Regs do not say that the person has to be registered with...

Any electric oven experts in here?

Exactly. One can do the basic core training off one's own bat (and pay the course fees) which would produce a certificate on satisfactory completion. However if you are rewarded in any way whatsoever for carrying out gas works for others then you must be GasSafe registered which can only be...

Any electric oven experts in here?

Not correct. A householder can do his own gas work downstream of the gas meter in his own personal private property (not a property that he then rents out). However, if anything goes wrong he would have to prove that he was competent to have carried out the gas works. Watching endless YouTube...

    ANPR insurance issue

I understood that only one policy can be active on a vehicle at a time and am somewhat surprised that this wasn't pointed out to the OP when the short-term cover was taken out. Perhaps it would have been a good idea to have their name added as an additional driver to the child's policy who...

Silicone grease for aerial connections (and many other uses)?

The best stuff for aerial (and all general electrical connections) IMO is Contralube 770 which is designed for that very purpose. Not cheap to be fair but I have used it on many boats and land based connections and not had a failure as yet. Also a bit difficult to get at the moment for some...
