I wouldn't put money on that. I clean ours once or twice a year (depending on Sahara dust) and it is quite surprising how much dirt come off them even though they 'look clean'.

Can I ask why you consider larger gutters are required?

Maybe loosen off the collet nut (not remove it) and lightly tap said nut from opposite sides at the same time with something like tack hammers.
