    Pretentious, moi?

When I left school I worked in a bread factory and was amazed at how popular "Judy Fitter" was; she was always being paged. Well you can guess who they were really paging #-o Phil

Any Decent Woodworking DVD's For Beginners?

I agree with Dave R, these dvd's are a must. I have only had time to watch the first DVD but it is ***** proof, easy to follow and has very useful jigs. Phil

    Pretentious, moi?

You should try having Greenough for a surname, so many interpretations and ways people spell it. Sometimes I wish I had taken my wife's maiden name Jones when we were married :D Phil

Strange problem with Wixey Angle Gauge

Hi Wizer I have a problem with the AA battery in my clock in the workshop, it just doesn't like the cold, and we're only talking 50F. You can get a whole range of watch type batteries from Poundland type shops. IIRC you get about 40 batteries which fit all types of watches, cameras and the...

    Workshop floor

I have used this and would recommend it, here are a few pics of it in my garage. https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=27119 However, if this was my house I would have put wooden flooring down. Phil

Jet Spindle Sander - £175 - Banbury, Oxfordshire

To be honest lads, what about the credit crunch? Our kid told me that some dealers are offering two cars for one on the mainland as long as you spend £22000. So why are we deliberating over these deals, when come next summer we, or the people who can afford it, will make the most of the credit...

    Jokes

The Waiting Room This is so true! They always ask at the doctor's office why you are there, and you have to answer in front of others what's wrong and sometimes it is embarrassing. There's nothing worse than a receptionist who insists you tell her what is wrong with you in a room full of...

    Contact Lenses

I wear contacts and glasses, the contacts are a blessing in my job. I'm too much of coward to get laser surgery and at 49, I'm thinking that it's a bit late in the day. I know my niece had it done and she has never looked back. Phil

    Hobbies

My latest fad, I mean hobby is flying, I'm got 34 hours in but I'm grounded at the moment :( . All my friends know me as the fad king :D At present I have a Telescope, digital keyboard, acoustic guitar, about £1000 worth of model railway stuff, Canon Eos 500 SLR camera and camping gear...

    Wealdon Tools

Big thumbs up for Wealdon Tools. I ordered router bits yesterday morning, they have just arrived. Now that's what you call a quick service, especially as I'm in Jersey. =D> Phil

    A new credit crunch starting

This reminds me of 1977. When I passed my driving test I had very little chance of buying a car, well a decent one anyway, because you had to have 20% of the car's value as a deposit. Now they practically pay you to buy them. Phil

    Router bits

Just a quick update and more advice required. I received the router deal today, as far as I can tell there is nothing missing. However, it had no instructions for the router or the guide rail, is this normal? I phoned APTC and the chap said he would get onto DeWalt about it. The 625 is...

    Router bits

I phoned Wealden Tools this morning and spoke to a really helpful chap for about 25 minutes. Ended up ordering two straight bits , a round over and a 45 degree chamfer bit, all 1/2 inch. £58 the lot. At that price I'll try not to break them :D

    Cross-cutting consistent 90 degrees

Don't know whether it's the same Roger but because I'm only 5 foot 4 inches I always get a slight bias. As i pull down on the saw the arm flexes and i never get a 90 degree cut. Phil

    Remembering.

Here is a picture of the American cemetery at the Normandy beaches. Taken from 1000ft, it reinforces the enormous losses. Phil

    Remembering.

Totally agree with you Roy these seamen have been treated shabbily. I believe they have only recently been honoured with a medal for WW2. My mate's father was torpedoed and sank three times on the Arctic convoys, the last one cost him four of his toes. Heros all of them. Phil
