    Gluing sapele worktop

You are right about teak and Iroko but Sapelle is not the same and will glue very well with Cascamite .

Frame and panel doors by the inexperienced?

The photo shows the doors beneath a writing bureau. The grooves and therefor the small tenons are made the same thickness as the panels. Stop chamfers are a nice easy way of decorating the front face as shown, they can be easily cut with a router. The main drawback to using solid panels is...

    resawing

A woodworking friend of mine purchased a single large baulk od old pitch pine to make some superb second fix joinery. It looked great but he had real problems with resin build up. I scrounged just enough from him to make a meter cupboard, even then the resin was building on cutters...

    Grindstone Trimmer.

It's used to dress the edge of the grinding wheel by removing a little of the worn and possibly clogged abrasive. It's intended to be hooked over the edge of the tool rest with a small clearance between the rotating discs and the grindstone before starting the grinder and lifting the handle to...

    Supplier of quality brass hinges

I agree about the countersinking being inadequate in some instances. This is very poor on many piano hinges, in some cases it appears to have been omitted altogether.

    Tapping cast iron machine table

Cast iron drills and taps well. In my case I needed the holes to be at 90 degrees to the surface . The easiest way was to drill a piece of scrap timber with the drill press and then clamp the timber to the machine bed and use the hole as a guide.

    Supplier of quality brass hinges

The best quality hinges I have found bear the name Simonswerk. Definitely not of Chinese origin. Expensive but very good.

My Multico TM1 Tenoner Scribe Head & Stuff I Need?

I hope these are self explanatory.

My Multico TM1 Tenoner Scribe Head & Stuff I Need?

. Obviously I have not set this up to work but to demo the method. The cutters in the bottom block were made by Whitehill and are reversible to give 9mm or 12mm rebates for doors. In the foreground are just the cutters to cut a full height mould. I have sets of these for 9, 12, and 20 degree...

My Multico TM1 Tenoner Scribe Head & Stuff I Need?

The advantage of the use of two blocks together is that the depth of rebate is set by the mould cutter size. Your existing Whitehill 96 mm block will pair with a 125mm rebate block but two 100 mm blocks won't do the job. Obviously you can't run 55mm cutters in a 65mm tenon block since they won't...

My Multico TM1 Tenoner Scribe Head & Stuff I Need?

The very slight curve to the bottom of the grooves will not affect the fit of the raised panels. It's normal practise to mount two blocks on the spindle to cut the rebate and mould in one pass, this ensures that no inaccuracy can creep in while making separate cuts for each. I use a two knife...

My Multico TM1 Tenoner Scribe Head & Stuff I Need?

The 125 X 50 blocks are both scribing and square cutters using 50mm TCT tips. It would be sensible to buy a pair of heads and take advantage of the limited projection tooling. The 50mm tips will also fit the rebate block that you will be running on the same spindle shaft as your limiter head...

Cost of spares in the UK

I think that many manufacturers in Europe regard the UK as treasure island, if you think back a few years cars imported to us were much more expensive than the same models in th country of origin. If you need a demonstration Google a. CMT part number for a router cutter and compare prices in...

    Bandsaw on a trolley

I have a record BS 500 with the wheel set. It's proved to be satisfactory for the last ten years.

    Sanders gone bust

My 450 duo went all wimpish and produced a lot of sparks at the commutator. A new pair of brushes returned it to health.

Screwing TGV onto the ledge and brace

Confused or what! I failed to see that you were referring to a framed ledged and braced door. My remarks are only applicable to a ledged and braced door. The traditional outhouse door.

Screwing TGV onto the ledge and brace

It's common practise to screw through the ends of the ledges and nail the rest of the boards. This is important in outward opening doors to prevent the edge boards from being loosened as the door is repeatedly slammed shut.

    Veneered blockboard

I regularly buy 8x4 sheets of oak veneered block board in 19mm thickness from Brooks Brothers in Nottingham. I understand they have branches elsewhere. About £80 per sheet. It's veneered on both faces.
