    Your Cars

I did enjoy my brother's first car - blue Morris marina 1.3. Went like stink, but unfortunately cornered and stopped stopped like stink. His Peugeot 205gti was a beast. My own first car was a Toledo sprint (with overdrive!!!), but my fave was a W-reg Golf V5. Lovely car. And Reliable - still...

Does this screw centre go inside this set of jaws?

Rob, Good thinking re double sided tape - I like that. And cheaper than glue gun! I like the king span idea, too - I knew I was right to keep the off cuts "just in case" 😉

Does this screw centre go inside this set of jaws?

Cooper, You would use hot glue for speed, or pva and paper joint if not in a hurry or not got a glue gun. (A situation in which I find myself, soon to be remedied, I hope - Though need another socket for the gun!)

Advice on my first wood turning lathe

I would really strongly recommend contacted your local woodturning club. AWGB website had locations. Even with covid-19, clubs will have helpful users who can discuss your needs. Better still, pay for a lesson with a pro and that should help you decide the route you favour

Does this screw centre go inside this set of jaws?

I agree with Doug- I think you've got the nova screw there. It can be a little fiddly to get spot on, but it does protrude enough with the jaws in place. As said above, large blanks want to be on a faceplate or a faceplate ring that is gripped in the jaws. (Search on axminster site you see...

Pushfit soil pipe as dust extraction

Gents, continuing this thread seems as good a place as any: Blast Gates - 2 questions: 1. To avoid any jamming up with debris, should they be installed in the vertical pipe run, so they are horizontal, or in the horizontal runs so they are vertical? Or doesn't it matter a hoot? 2. As close...

    Crown tools?

They've a good reputation for turning tools. Mark Sanger sells their m42 tools. I emailed crown asking difference in steels and benefits for a hobby turner. They emailed back asking if they could call and run through options. The boss rang me, gave me as much time and info as wanted and...

    Ring Doorbells....

Don't know if it's true, but I heard that the ring means Amazon can pretty much log every access to your house. If that's true, they can take a running jump as far as I'm concerned

    Chuck key lost

You could go to local Screwfix or tool station and ask to see their chucks - take your chuck and compare. Or be brave and just get a new keyless chuck 😁

    Smart tv

Do take the trouble to check it will DEFINITELY work with all the apps. One of our Sony tv's is fine, the other, for no obvious reason, won't work with All 4, itv app or BBC iPlayer. It also seems to have become incompatible with freeview after a software 'upgrade'
