    New pyro based project idea

I like that - nicely done. In the spirit of critique, which I think you requested, I just wonder if the dark lower part could stop lower down the piece? Maybe come up to one third, rather than half way? I'm no designer, so could be taking hoof, but just thought it might lighten the piece...

    Acacia Box Number 2

Good man. Good idea to build up from a board.

    Strange Request

I've no pear, but when I mixed saw dust with glue, I've never managed to get it the same colour as even the wood from which it came - the glue mix always dries darker. If you have found a way to solve that, please let us know!

    Securing your workshop

That's a real bar steward, Martin. If spikes on the walls are not an option, anti climb paint on top might be good - leaves the tea leaf very messy and gunked up.

Things you can't dent with the spouse

Identical. Plus, she will not believe me that just running up and down the stairs, or step ups etc WILL warm her up. Chocolate won't

    Parkside Vacuum PWD 12 A1 - Hose

I think it will. But they probably change colour and possibly even name each time. Good for home workshop, though.

    Parkside Vacuum PWD 12 A1 - Hose

Rain water pipe is 68mm. About 4 quid at screwfix. If you can adapt up to that, it's a pretty cheap solution

This puts the Virus into the shadows

I would never claim to know any more than "Jack sh** plus 1%" about the energy world, but it seems to me that whatever the pros or con's of e.g. fracking, it is still a carbon based non renewable source and is therefore probably not the best long term plan, whatever the advantage of cheap fuel -...

    Wood burner fan

Thanks for all the input, folks. Looks like it may be worth it if you spend a decent amount, but don't bother with a cheapo Cheers

I don't think they would believe it nowadays?

Oh yes! And my mate's mum couldn't understand how her phone bill was so big even though she'd installed a dial lock 🤣

    Miniature Traction Engine

This is just beyond stunning. Lovely to see the Frys label - reminded me that my best mates dad used to be senior chemist there many years ago. Thanks for sharing your incredible work. Greg

You guys must be heavy drinkers...

Not supporting nor denigrating the BBC or any mainstream media, but if we're going to be reliant on the whims of eg fb, yt or whatever streaming service or social media outlet comes along next, I think we'd better improve our cognitive processing to filter out the extremist anonymous **** that...

    Watertight after 20 years

Dad built our kitchen in the 70's. Knocked through the tiny scullery into the main kitchen so a good sized kitchen diner. Did a nice job. IIRC it was a Wrighton kitchen with Creda appliances? Pretty high quality - withstood 5 kids smashing the bejaysus out of them for decades. Obligatory...

    Chess pieces advice?

Mike Darlow is undoubtedly THE knowledge on the subject. His writing is sometimes a bit' strict', but I recommend his book for detail, design and all the techniques. I just need to get better at turning to give it a go!
