    Underneath the arches

That's really brilliant. Very well done. I've not seen these before and I can see why it would inspire someone to at least have a go. Are the patterns easy to find? Any pointers would be helpful and how easy is it to find the lighting in the UK please. Malcolm

    Numbers Check - Carter Stabilizer

It really depends on the box design and how tight the turns are. I am often using super tuff carbon 1/4" blade 10tpi or 6tpi or the 1/8" 14tpi blade. I tend to keep the 1/8" for boxes that need the tighter turns. Even whan I am cutting the main box shape from glued blanks, I can use the...

    Numbers Check - Carter Stabilizer

If I may suggest, why not get a good 1/4" blade from Tuffsaw first of all and use that for a while before considering a Carter Stabilizer. The cost of a Stabilizer and smaller blades will be heavy when you have no idea if you will want to make lots of bandsaw boxes or not. I started there and...

    Numbers Check - Carter Stabilizer

It is effective if you need a fine blade of 1/4" or less for tighter turns and if set up correctly can produce perfectly verticle cuts. It's fairly costly and I was managing with a 1/4" blade previously on the original guides. What sort of woodwork will you to be doing? Malcolm

Browsing around and came across this stunning masterpiece

I'm surprised how many don't like this. I think it is absolutely fantastic and would have it like a shot. However, if it were ever sold, I expect the price tag would be prohibitive, but what a geat item of furniture. Even though it may not fit in with most people's furnishing, as it is unique, I...

BANDSAWS - Carter Stabilizer Update 2

Having had a recent enquiry about the fitting of the Carter Stabilizer onto the Record BS400, which I did at the end of 2014, and can be seen by searching the following 'BANDSAW BS400 ADDITION Part 1' from 06 Dec 2014. ( bandsaw-bs400-addition-part-1-t85377.html ) The first cut was to enable...

Help Please - Removal of wax polish

When we were married some 53 years ago, we bought a coffee table that we have always retained. Althought it is a fairly modern, Ercol style table, it fits in well, but over the years it has become dull from polishing. I don't want to use any strippers, as the inlay's may lift, but what is the...

    work shirts

Check out the charity shops Phil. There are usually loads of shirts on offer at very reasonable prices and perfectly good for the workshop. Many with pockets. I have an oversized denum shirt I wear more like an over-shirt top. It's hard wearing and has large top pocket. Some denium shirts have...

    FINE DRIILS

Thanks Phill, I meant 75mm. The drill I have is 1.7mm x 100mm and is fine, but could do with smaller diameter. Just surprised that there are no sets offered but it must be a very small market. Malcolm

    FINE DRIILS

Having done several searches and ordered a few odd drills, what a pity that there are not a set of 75mm long, or slightly longer up to 100mm , drills from 0.75 to 2mm in 0.25 increments for wood. They would be ideal for scrollers wanting to cut that depth, as well as others. If you do hear of...
