Now is the time to buy 150 mm metric Starrett Combination Square

The Amazon stock algorithm has probably suddenly gone nuts, attributed the sudden demand to the status of the Brexit trade talks and there will be thousands now on order!

Now is the time to buy 150 mm metric Starrett Combination Square

I also have just received mine. I bought it on the strength of another (larger) starrett that I have and am not disappointed. The price persuaded me to buy it now. It actually looks a very handy size for much of what I do.

    Fixing for box lining

The autocorrect on this forum is so aggressive. It will re-correct the word over and over. Spell was sapele! I wouldn't use the teak oil on it, I have always thought of that for garden furniture.

    what material

This is a general question, but what materials do most people like for small objects? Furniture is easier in a way, you look at the house, the room, tastes and budget. More of a discussion than anything, with a bit of background. I would like to make a match striker. We have candles around, and...

    Fixing for box lining

that may be it. It was the lightest, dewaxed one I could get in flake form. It is in an unmarked bag and I have had it years. I dont recall where it came from. may have been liberon.

    Very Small Wood Lathe Recommendation

what volume are you looking to make? what other products? if it is only a few I would look at ways that you can avoid needing a lathe. For example, get it somewhere near with a spokeshave then spinning the wood in a cordless drill and using sandpaper to shape/smooth it.

can you get some scrap and try it first? This will help Compound Miter Saw Calculator sheet material would be ideal as a practice so that it removes the potential variable of thickness.

Rutland router cutters - Any good ?

sadly it is fairly typical in my experience. I had a small anvil from them that dented when used. the replacement was the same. the router cutters have been ok, no issue with those. I cant remember what else I ordered some time back, but I had to speak to customer service about it and it was...

Rutland router cutters - Any good ?

Generally from prior experience of their customer services, and shady reviews. Also partially due to the false discounts and sales. They may have changed, but a few years ago they were dreadful. I still wouldn't buy from them now based on prior dealings.

    table lamp

Thanks. I am convinced enough to give it a go. Firewood burns equally as well with an off-centre hole in it so I will beg a log from my dad. I can always return it afterwards.

    Router Bit Question

I did this with one of the same cutters. You will need a very rigid setup, with consistent pressure at all times. I was disappointed with the result and I used the power feed on my woodrat. It is a horrible joint in that it shows any slight imperfection. Now I have more tools than I did then...

Planer blades - how much should I pay?

That sounds cheap but I am on Tersa blades for my planer so I may have misremembered getting some done. Either way though, for that price I would try a set.

Now is the time to buy 150 mm metric Starrett Combination Square

https://www.starrett.com/metrology/product-detail/11MH-150 But it is either square or it isn't. (well square enough, let's not get into a discussion on whether it is possible to be absolutely square). If it isn't, it will go back. I don't care which country it was made in, I do care more that...

Planer blades - how much should I pay?

Is Woodford the cost per blade? They feel very cheap for that. The cost of sharpening is probably almost a tenner per blade (guessed, it has been a while), so personally I would take a punt on those. If they aren't very good you haven't lost much fore than having others sharpened.

Now is the time to buy 150 mm metric Starrett Combination Square

I took a punt on one at the price. It certainly won't be US made now but I hope it will be made to the normal starrett standards. Edit: on the starrett site it does claim to be USA made. That may only be those supplied to the US market though. Who knows.
