    Moss on roof

if I kill it, will it then fall off in time? I know I may need to clean out the gutters a few times.

    Moss on roof

We have just had the overhanging trees cut back. The concrete tiled roof is covered in moss on one elevation. It previously had limited light and airflow which caused this to grow. Does this need removing, and if so how? Is it a DIY job or a get somebody in job?

    UJK Benches

On my mft setup, I use some Stanley fatmax saw horses. They are not the cheapest ones that they did, and are not the best available but they are perfectly adequate. I wanted the legs to be able to accommodate uneven ground which made them more expensive. I use 2 pieces of CLS timber between the...

    UJK Benches

Buy what you want, but could I suggest an alternative... An mft style top from eBay or elsewhere. Cost probably £50-60. Some dogs from benchdogs. They do a range and it is worth looking at the range and what you need. Make or buy some sawhorses to put it on. What you will lose with this is...

    private charge notice

I would ask the family for volunteers as to who was there and got it. Then either get the guilty culprit to pay it or do so yourself. Either way, pay it and move on.

    Wooden hinge box

You could probably use something like a roll pin to save cutting up weld wire.

    Wooden hinge box

With a lathe it is probably fairly straightforward to centre drill the dowel. Just match the dowel radius to the router cutter.

    Wooden hinge box

Of all the versions that I have seen, I like the cosman one the most. If you look on YouTube there are enough clips to see the basics of it. Many of the others look a bit chunky for my liking.

    Round glass mirror

Although thinking about it, the cheapest option is probably to find something from Wilko or wherever and take the mirror out if it.

    Round glass mirror

Have you tried local glazing shops, the type that sell windows, greenhouse glass etc.

    Apron or Dustcoat?

I have tried to embrace the apron, I even bought a good one, but I am not keen. I try to get rid of as much dust at source as possible and then wear something that doesn't matter if it gets a bit dusty. ideally 2 layers so that I can take one off and give it a shake before I come inside.

    Dowel Plate

how many sizes are you likely to need (rather than assuming that you will need)? the alternative is something like this or an equivalent with a plane blade.

    Dowel Plate

make one? to buy they seem to be very expensive for what is, as you say, a plate with holes in and hardened.

    manual chainsaw mill

I thought about a small chainsaw mill, and thought much the same as you that there isnt much in it. I am under no illusion, if it wasnt from the garden, I wouldn't consider it for long. maybe a helper and the bandsaw, or a jig and the tracksaw. It would start the cut if nothing else. or turn...

    Coat stand?

it all rather depends on what you like. I love this one, but I can imagine that it isnt to everybody's taste. Exceptional Mid-Century Modern Atomic Sputnik Coat Tree or Stand, 1960s, Denmark For Sale at 1stDibs I like it as a website too, it seems to focus on mid century modern styles so may...

    manual chainsaw mill

Is there such a thing as a hand operated slabbing mill? We have had some tree work done in the garden, and I have a couple of lengths of timber from it (3ft long, 8-9" diameter). It is too heavy to get to the bandsaw and there isnt enough to either take it to a sawmill (who probably wouldn't be...

What to do with this MONSTER ?

I have only used burr pen blanks and boards containing burry patches. Is there a chance that it isn't burry inside and is quite boring? It is a question in general, it has always made me slightly hesitant with buying such things. I have only ever seen finished items and have no idea if the...

    Filling cracks question.

Fill the crack with dust and drip thin CA through it. As said above though, it often isn't a great match colour wise. Depending on the cracks, it may be better to not use the dust, or make a feature of it.
