files to make round holes square

it is 19mm tube in 1000mm lengths. I need holes at each end and 2 or 3 in the middle somewhere. I am making this (the video goes on and on and on, but if you skip to bits you will get a summary). . pop riveting it may be an alternative. I dont have a riveter but I dont have a file either...

files to make round holes square

so the steel as a backer piece? it is tube, and some holes are 300mm inside, but it may work. I like the idea.

files to make round holes square

I have some m6 holes to make square to take the square shank of a m6 coach bolt. there are 20 in all in 1.6mm aluminium. to make it slightly more tricky, it is a through hole in square tube, and only one side needs squaring. I believe that the way to do it is with careful marking out or a 3...

    Tracks, Railsquares and Tracksaws

I dont disagree, but it is a brilliant trick and I would replace my benchdogs square if I lost it.

    Tracks, Railsquares and Tracksaws

I think it depends, ideally get both! the ultimate setup for me is the MFT and a fence system, plus ether some dogs that go into the rail, to hold it in a fixed position, or a square and dogs that hold that to achieve the same. The latter is the cost of the square more expensive, but you are...

    Bowl Size Ponderings

getting the wood is the other challenge. make friends with a local tree surgeon, and spread the word that you will collect local trees that are being cut down.

    Bowl Size Ponderings

    Yes, good point.

    Bowl Size Ponderings

I only have a bench top lathe, but I would potentially be interested in having outboard turning ability for platters rather than bowls, or for small bowls in the end of a long flat workpiece. just something else to consider.

Where has all the sand gone?

I have always done it with just sharp. I was told that on soft they float too much (whatever that means), so knowing no better I followed the advice since.

    1/ 4" trimmer router question

throw away the 3/8 collet. you wont be able to get bits. the commonly available ones in the uk are 1/4", 8mm and 1/2". 8mm will fit in the 3/8 but not hold it safely and you dont ever want to find out. for what you want, as much as I hate to admit it, I would get a couple of silverline bits...

    arnold laver

I use Lavers for bits and pieces because the Leeds depot is next to my office. I dont buy much in general, and I buy less than I would from AL because they are a pain to deal with on the sales counter. The prices are horrendous for small quantities, even up to a few cubic feet. The stock is...
