    Thicknessing wth a router

This month's edition of FWW has an article on just this subject and shows a simple router surfacing jig to surface large pieces of uneven timber.

    Oak and Off White

Very nice. I love that "cat's paw" oak drawer front. Real class. Not sure about the avocado - but if that's what the customer wanted, they're paying the bills so who am I to be critical! In the photos the tops seem to be a different colour to the base units (?). presumably this is as a...

    Domino dust extraction

Thanks Brian - just seen the post. Can't immediately see what the size of the nilfisk outlet is so presumably I'd need some sort of adaptor to connect the nilfisk hose to my 4" Camvac out let, so not sure whether there would be any saving in hose weight, although I see the nilfisk hose is 5m...

    Domino dust extraction

Never mind the bullet Rob - the "slope" has become so steep I feel like something out of Tom and Jerry who's just gone over the cliff and their fingernails are leaving grooves on the cliff face as they slide down it! Mind you, that Camvac 386 twin is great, and seems to swallow workshop mice...

    Domino dust extraction

Just bought a Domino for my faceframe kitchen build, and having spent more than enough already was wondering what you guys do about dust extraction. Do I really have to spend another unbudgeted £300+ on a CTL Midi or can I connect it to my Camvac 4" inlet with some sort of adaptor. If so, which...

Long Sash clamps, > 2 meters

Jason - I've used both and would agree that the Jorgenson Pony clamps are a better product. But the Axi ones are OK and half the price - especially if just for a single job, and if Kules is just starting out in woodwork he'll be putting his hand in his pocket every 5 minutes, and he may have...

Long Sash clamps, > 2 meters

As Jason said, this is the "jobbie" you need. Then just get the appropriate length of 3/4" pipe from your favourite plumbers merchants. I've got something similar set into my bench top which gives me a clamp with jaws that will stretch up to 6ft between them. HTH

    My latest commission - WIP

I'm not surprised the client is pleased. She should be absolutely ecstatic! What will the finish be?

    Central Heating - Multiple Zones?

So are you saying that as the rest of the house is on rads (about 1700 sq ft), the extension (about 400 sq ft) should also be on rads? As the extension is a kitchen/diner/living area we expect to virtually live in it! Or that it's fine for the extension to have UFH on a separate zone to the...

    Central Heating - Multiple Zones?

That's really interesting Dave - thanks for posting. Is there any way the system can differentiate between the zoned radiator circuits and UFH? We are nearly up to roof plate on a large kitchen extension and want to put UFH into it whilst the rest of the house remains on rads. We have...

    MDF SEALER

Would you use the Morrells High Build primer for MRMDF if there were no edges to paint? An MDF panel set in a tulipwood or beech framed shaker door for instance?

    Central Heating - Multiple Zones?

We've been very pleased with the Drayton RF1 wireless stats. Very easy to set up and use. I believe they have been superceded now, but I suspect the replacement will be just fine.

    Central Heating - Multiple Zones?

Another fan of dual zone CH here. As I think I've mentioned before, we split upstairs from downstairs, and control the zones with a 3 zone (Up/Down/HW) Horstmann ChannelPlus H37XL series 2 three channel programmer. We were warned off prorammable thermostats by our plumber, and just use 2...

Window Friction Stays - which ones?

Thanks Robin. Those look like the friction hinges and stays made by Cotswold who appear to make both friction hinges and stays that will take windows up to 50kgs. Just need to decide whether to go for friction hinges or stainless stormproof hinges now. Decisions decisions! And welcome to the...

neighbours, noise and the hours you spend

Same here. Mind you Rob, if i lived next door to you i'd find the "swish" of those micron thin shavings coming off that LA Jack very irritating!
