I would shape the ends to fit to give the best contact and stiffness.

What size timbers for a belfast sink stand?

OK then you could use a bridle joint. You still need to make a tenon but rather than try to make a square hole with wood all around you make the mortice open at the end sort of like a 2 prong fork that the tenon goes into and then glue it up and put a couple of screws in to give extra hold. get...

    Unusual request!

You could make it out of acrylic that you have heat formed over a mould. Create a cylinder and the base top etc and glue them with super glue. would take a while though

What size timbers for a belfast sink stand?

There is a narrow plank at the back and a wider one at the from which are screwed to the top of the bracket, the sink then sits on top. These planks are temporary and will be replaced with a full shelf when all the cabinetry is fitted. The frame is gone but it was just a cuboid frame. It was...

What size timbers for a belfast sink stand?

I have literally just fitted a full size Belfast sink in my kitchen. While I worked everything out I had the sink sitting on a frame made of 50mm2 pine screwed together and it sat there for about a week while all the other plumbing etc was sorted out. It was finally put in place using M10 wall...

    T Track standards?

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: No there isn't really. It seems each of the major makers want to lock you into using their stuff only and price bits and accessories accordingly as they then have a captive market. Best bet if you want value for money is to have a look at...

Spiral vs shear - router bits

For me the Infinity were the first I was aware of and I am happy with the quality and cleanness of the arris at the edge of the cut on both sides that I get using them. I have not got to the point where I need to replace them but will look at others when the time comes. Also I really like the...

    So this Dovetailing business?...

@TRITON There are plenty of examples of items made as far back as the 3rd Dynasty in ancient Egypt that are wood and have dovetails. In fact Irving Finkel one of the curators at the Natural History Museum has shown a games box for the "Royal Game of Ur" played by the Sumerian from around 6K...

    preserving shine on copper

This stuff works well. First polish up the the state you want and then completely clean the metal and wash off with hot running water. Leave to dry and then apply the laquer in fine mist coats allow to dry full between each, usually I give metal tht wont be handled much 3 coats. Let it cure for...

Have you thought about who really can afford what you make and if it's something they actually want?

@BucksDad One of the big problems is that there wont be as many grandparents around just lots of old people. For the UK the median number of children born to a women here has been 1.59 children per woman over the last 40 years. So not even enough to sustain the same size of population as of 1980...
