    Sharpening

@Bingy man It is commented on in a negative way as in the past threads discussing it have almost lead to people going round the corner and landing physical blows. For some in the woodworking community take sharpening to be a divine process where the use of Dodo tears for lubrication, the...

Looking for a tough, dark wood veneer for edging that can take some "handling traffic".

If the edge will get as heavy a drubbing as you suggest them maybe better off using a wide lipping and fitting it using the below: https://nettiverstas.fi/en/product/cmt-edge-banding-router-bit-set-w-bearing-s=12-d=40x25-4/955.510.11

    I've cancelled my subsription

@Daniel2 , most of the members here have been here far longer than you and have never paid any subs to be here. Many have in the past offered direct financial support the originator of the site over the years out of their own generosity which Charely always refused. Personally I am not a paying...

    An irritating problem

The first coat soaks into the wood and crystalizes just below for most of it and just at the surface. This dries fairly quickly, the 2nd coat is actually sitting as a little lake on top of this and is trying to penetrate the semi sealed surface to bond chemically with the first coat. It sits...

Actually it is perfectly possible for a man to go through the menopause. There are a few slight chemical differences but the experience and a lot of the symptoms are the same. It is usually caused by genetics or serious illness and their treatment such as cancer. I would be happy to give you a...

Wood prices - Going down or not?

rarely does any wholesale pricedrop filter through to the retail market quickly unlike any increase. that which shall not be named is causing a lot of additrional stress to UK pricing.Whatever you end up paying will be far better than what we will be able to achieve.

Scroll Saw Novice - Help Needed

you should be feeling that you are pushing the wood to the blade as the blade is only meant to go up and down. There is no reciprocal motion in the blade. If you mean you have to push the wood into a retreating/bending blade then the blade is not tensioned enough. You should try to tension the...

Removing oak veneer on solid oak shelf

heat an edge at the corner with a non steaming iron and lift the edge with a knife. You will soon know what it is and can iron it back down. But just from the pics it is 98% not solid. edit on looking at 3rd pic, it looks like the veneer is on with cascamite so will probably be chipboard...
